Year Two - Spotlight on Learning
Dear Families,
We have thoroughly enjoyed playing our Math's Olympic Games with our families. We had such an incredible turn out and we appreciate all the effort in taking the time to play the games our students created. We saw lots of smiles and laughter. We hope those who were unable to make it to school have had the chance to play these games at home.
We learnt all about RESILIENCE and ways we can grow our resilience during our Kids Helpline Webinars. Just are reminder, Kids Helpline is available anytime and for any reason at 1800 55 1800 or kidshelpline.com.au
Next week we are learning...
Religious Education: We are learning about Jesus being the visible image of God through scripture and looking at how this is relevant today.
Mathematics: We are looking at strategies to multiply and divide by one-digit numbers using repeated addition, equal grouping, arrays and partitioning to support a variety of calculation strategies.
English: We will be looking at using visual representations of characters' reactions, speech and thought processes and expanding simple sentences with adjectives. We will enjoy some of the shortlisted books for Book Week and the theme 'Reading is Magic'.
Spelling | dance, peace, sauce, twice, enforce, lounge, rage, splurge, teenage, village |
Vocabulary | scavenging, terrifying, skerrick, yanked, glistening, scribbled, squirmed |
Auslan: This week we are learning that when planning stories, we use visual thinking. This week we also learn that when signing that someone is ‘playing’ something, we do the action of playing. This can then look very different depending on what you are playing, just like closing and opening. Signs that show an action by holding, touching or using an object are called handling signs. We use handling signs when we hold or touch an object to close or play it.
Social/Emotional Learning & RRRR: This term we are learning about gender identity and specifically the different roles and occupations associated with the genders.

Reminders
As part of our Integrated Unit on Performing Arts, we will be having an incursion on Thursday 5th September with a focus on World Dance. We will be looking at and taking part in different dance styles from across the world. Please complete permission slips ASAP.
On Thursday 29th August we have our Father's Day morning. Any special person is invited to attend. We have morning tea provided for adults and a fun activity for students to complete with their special person in our classrooms. For those who are unable to have a special person attend, they will still be able to participate and bring home their creations to share.
Just a reminder that while we are not a nut-free school, we have many students with allergies in our community, including one student with anaphylaxis. Please be conscious when packing lunch boxes.
