Year Four - Spotlight on Learning

Dear Parents,

This week  students completed their two weeks of swimming lessons at Kingswim. Students participated with excitement and enthusiasm which was great to see. All students learned new skills with many students moving up a level or two.

Mathematics: Students will continue learning about fractions and how to convert them into decimals using decimal notation.

English: We will continue to read “Storm Boy” and complete grammar, vocabulary and comprehension tasks related to the text. Students will start learning about the key features of an Information Report. They will begin writing their report on the Coorong, focusing on using the correct tense, incorporating subheadings for clarity, and using precise language with descriptive adjectives.

Religious Education: Next week students will be learning about the ten commandments and how they are still relevant today. Students will delve deeper into the Passover and how it is linked to the Eucharist and Jesus’ sacrifice.

Social Emotional Learning/RRRR: Students will be exploring and comparing the roles traditionally assigned to male and female characters in classic fairy tales. They will also examine how these roles have evolved in modern children’s literature.

Auslan: In Auslan students will review the signs below as they prepare to complete the mid-cycle self assessment.  They will be revisiting the signs: Today is hot, Tomorrow will be hot, Yesterday was cold, Two days ago and In two days.

Integrated inquiry: Students will practice how different movements and voices can express different emotions and actions.
