A Message from

Hannah & Keir

“We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, the first people to dream, create, wonder, dance, play and learn on this breathtaking land. This land was cared for and respected for tens of thousands of years. The First Nations people lived in companionship with the animals and the life on this land. We acknowledge that this is stolen land and we pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging.”

Boite Schools Chorus

On Thursday evening last week, a creative and enthusiastic group of year 3-6 students performed in the Boite Schools Chorus at Melbourne Town Hall. The concert presented a powerful repertoire of songs serving as a call to action and inspiring positive change in our approach to environmental issues. BNWPS students joined with students from almost fifteen other schools to perform to an audience of thousands. The performance was the culmination of a very long process of rehearsals. We would like to congratulate these students for their commitment and persistence throughout the rehearsal period, as well as for their phenomenal performance. Thanks too, to Tom Dartnell and Jesse Hughes; the two members of staff who coordinated, supported, and guided the students through the process.

Trivia Night

Some other members of our community also had the opportunity to ‘perform’ last week … at our Annual Trivia Night!  Parents, carers and staff dressed up in some extremely imaginative interpretations of the theme ‘Icons’ and a huge amount of fun was had by all in attendance. A huge thank you to the CET team and their volunteers who worked tirelessly up to and during the event to make the night such a successful one.

Phone/Watch Policy

Over the past week we have seen a significant increase in students using wearable devices for reasons that are not approved by the school or the Department of Education. We wanted to remind all families that, for the safety of all students, we require all mobile phones and wearable devices to be stored at the front office at the beginning of each day and collected from the office at the end of the day. It is not sufficient for wearable devices to be turned onto 'school mode' as this is easily changed by our students.

If, after reading the school’s Mobile Phone Policy (available on Sentral), you still feel it is important for your child to have their device with them while at school, please make a time to speak with your child's teacher and/or a member of school leadership to see if your child qualifies for an exemption to this rule.

Enrolments Now Due

Enrolments for 2025 are now due. If you are intending to enrol your child in our school next year, please make sure you have submitted your form to the office. It may seem early in the year, but this timeline is required to help us with workforce planning.

Parent & Caregiver Opinion Survey

The Parent & Caregiver Opinion Survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent & Caregiver Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 29 July to Friday 30 August 2024. All families are invited to participate in this survey.

The online survey is completely anonymous and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. It can be accessed at any time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
