Year 7 students travelled to the Forth River for a HASS excursion last week.
They have been learning about the water cycle, hydrological disasters and hydroelectricity. Students were able to collect water samples and other data at three sites along the river: Alma Bridge, Forth Recreation Ground and Port Fenton (Leith Estuary).
The photos attached were taken by students, ready to be used to discuss the social, economic and environmental impacts of water on these places. Weather permitting, they will travel to the Rubicon River this week to repeat the data collection on a different waterway. This topic has become especially relevant after the storm activity we have had lately!
We regret to announce that the Outdoor Ed camp that was to be held next week has had to be postponed. The organisers at Paton Park have let us know that we are unable to continue with the camp next week due to fallen trees and powerlines from the recent severe weather.
We understand that this will be very disappointing but please be reassured the camp will be rescheduled for Term 4.
Thank you for your understanding.
