Congratulations to Sports Academy student Cooper Belsham who is currently playing basketball in Abu Dhabi. The NBA Basketball School Program is focused on on-court training, strength and conditioning, and basketball education under the direction of local coaches, who work directly with the NBA international basketball operations staff around the world. Fantastic work Cooper!
Congratulations to Year 11 student Ricky Mentha who had the privilege to play in the Futures Match at the MCG on Grand Final Day. Ricky played for team Naitanui who took the win on the day by 3 points! Fantastic effort!
Congratulations to four of our Lowanna Sports Academy Basketball Players - Preston Laidlaw, Steven Teng, Owen Harrington and Brody Young. The boys came away undefeated in 7 games, taking out the Grand Final in a nail biting, 3 x overtime win, winning by just 1 point! Well done!
On the 3rd of September a number of our Sports Academy students were named the 2023 premiers in an 11-point win against Mirboo North at Ted Summerton Recreation Reserve. What a fantastic achievement from our Lowanna Boys!

On the 11th of September Gippsland United held their season presentations where five of our Lowanna College students received awards.
In 14.1g, Year 7 student Virginia Daley received the Players Player Award.
14.2g, Lexie Jackson received the Coaches Award.
18g, Year 11 student Brooke Hunter was awarded Most Improved.
18.1b, Year 10 student Tom Matthews was awarded Players Player, and Year 11 student Jackson Shields received the Technical Official of the Year Award for his great commitment and work umpiring.

Congratulations to Noah Smith who was named the 2023 Under 16 Boys Victorian Champion Premiers for the Dandenong Rangers. Noah had a big win against Knox at Nunawading Basketball Stadium on Friday the 22nd of September. Fantastic work Noah!
On the 16th of September not only one, but two siblings from the Axford family came out as premiers. In the 15 & Under Netball, Year 9 Sports Academy Netballer Beth Axford defeated Yarragon by 8 points (41-33)!
In the Senior Football, our PE and Outdoor Education teacher Mr Axford had a great win against the Neerim South Cats by 30 points alongside two of his brothers (35-65). What a fantastic achievement for the Axford family!
Congratulations to our Sports Academy Netball Coach Stacie Gardiner who made Gippsland’s A Grade Team of the Year and was announced Gippsland Star 23 & Under Assistant Coach for the upcoming VNL season. We would like to welcome Stacie back (and her new addition to the family, her baby boy Reggie) as she will be working on Tuesday's and Thursday's at the Sports Academy skills sessions.
Also, a big congratulations to past Sports Academy student Ava Gaul and Sports Academy Assistant Coach Ramayer Gourley who were named in Gippsland Leagues A Grade Team of the Year. We would also like to congratulate Ramayer for winning the A Grade Grand Final and for being named Best on Court against Morwell (64-30).
Congratulations to Year 10 Sports Academy student Tom Matthews on being awarded Gippsland League's 2023 Fourth's Best and Fairest as well as winning leading goal kicker. Another big congratulations to Year 7 Sports Academy student Virginia Daley for winning the 13 and Under League Best and Fairest.
In the first week of the recent school holidays, the PE Department participated in the Teacher Games which were held in Gippsland. They participated in three sports - AFL9s, lawn bowls and netball. They came second in AFL9s and in lawn bowls, where the girls team took home the wooden spoon. The teachers were undefeated in netball and won the gold medal. Well done!
Congratulations to Brady Cake on making the Victorian Team in Nationals for hockey! This is a huge achievement, well done!

Congratulations to Ayla Grbic who made the Blue side in the Under 16 Girls Victorian State Team. Fantastic work!
On Sunday the 1st of October at Morwell Recreation Reserve in a thriller, the Under 15's Eastern side 8.10-58, defeated Western 9.2-56. Year 10 AFL Sports Academy student Kaiden Walmsley was named West Gippsland’s Best Player for the day. Fantastic job!
Congratulations to Olivia Ouchirenko, Viginia Daley and Shayla Smith who represented Gippsland United at the camp. These three girls played at the 2023 BV Country Gold Nugget Camp which was held in Ballarat during the recent school holidays. Great work girls!

Congratulations to Lowanna College Sports Trainee Alisha Molesworth who won the 2023 Gippsland Power Runner Up MVP at the Gippsland Power Presentation event.

Congratulations to Lexi Micallef who represented the Latrobe Valley Netball Region at State Titles in Under 15's, and for finishing 12th overall out of 19 regions across the whole of Victoria!
