From the Principal

Week 3 Term 4 2023

Dear Parents and Carers

Maths Day

A huge thank you to those parents who were able to attend our "Maths Day" last Friday.  For those in attendance I hope you found both sessions ( presentation and classroom) informative and insightful.   It was wonderful to have Ross Kirwan from MACS present in the morning. There were appoximately 130 parents at this session. Ross is very knowlegable and provided  a glimpse of the changing world of maths education.

On Tuesday of this week the data comparing our school to both state and national averages was released. It was once again pleasing to see that by Yr. 5 our students are performing above national and state averages ( by at least 6 months.) Once again thank you to Mrs Silvers for coordiating the day and the tuckshop for putting on the Maths food.

Prep 2024 Orientation

Yesterday our Prep Children for 2024 had their first experience of school life at St Bede's. The children spent two hours exploring the classroom and playground.  An information session for the parents was held in the Jarrow room. Our school captains were excellent in answering questions about their experiences at St Bede's. There is something special when you can see the genuine pride children have in their school. The next Orientation session will be held next week.

Athletics

Last week I forgot to mention that Maddy K not only particiapted in the relay team but also participated in the heats of the 100m at the division athletics. Below is a picture of Maddy finishing 4th.  Another wonderful effort.

 Father/Child Camp.

This weekend is the annual Father/Child camp. A lot of work takes place behind the scenes to ensure this event happens each year.  I trust  everyone will have a wonderful time and that many family friendships will be strengthened and also formed.  I look forward to hearing the stories on Monday!!

Sickness

There is alot of sickness  throughout the school at the moment. I ask that if your child is sick they remain at home until they are well.

Have a great week

Brian
