Year 5/6 Cluster News Term 3 Week 9

Home Inquiry: 

Read for 20 minutes. Reading is to be recorded in student diaries with the book title, page numbers read, and the time read.

Maths: Have discussions about volume and capacity and where this is used in daily life.  

Due Dates: 

Year 6 Exhibition reflections are due weekly.  

Special Persons Afternoon 

Thank you to those who returned forms for SPA this Friday. Students will be performing 2 songs during this time.  

iPad App 

Mrs Ali has asked that students have the app, ‘Launchpad’ downloaded and ready to use for Music this Thursday.  

Keyboard 

Just a reminder that all students need a keyboard for their iPad as we will soon be using our touch-typing program.  

Literacy  

Literacy this week is strongly tied in with our ‘Sharing the Planet’ unit. Students will be reading, researching and taking notes.  

Inquiry 

Students have been looking at the different elements of the PYP and how these make them better learners. They have also pulled apart the Transdisciplinary Theme and touched on the four areas of finite resources, peace and conflict, relationships in communities and access to equal opportunities.  

Maths 

This week, students will be investigating how to measure the volume of 3D shapes. We will begin this using Minecraft edu. 

Graduation Photos 

We would like to share a photo gallery of the graduating class on graduation night. We require 2 photos of your child to show how they have grown up into the students we know today. These photos can be emailed to Amy Hughes (hughes.amy@goldengrove.sa.edu.au). Please include a baby photo and first day of school photo. Please have these in by the end of Term 3.  

Just a reminder students need to have a fully charged iPad, a keyboard, headphones and a drink bottle every day.
