Thank you to Mrs Zadow and Mrs Hughes for their work on delivering professional learning for the staff team in the teaching of mental computation in Mathematics, along with Desiree Gilbert, a consultant from the Association of Independent Schools of SA. This proved to be a fantastic and productive time of professional growth last Friday.

Congratulations to our Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 students who participated in SACSA AFL on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 September. They were brilliant representatives of the school, playing in the spirit of the game, and also kicked a lot of goals! Well done to all involved!

A reminder that we have a brilliant Parents and Friends Association who contribute much to our school, including the amazing afternoon tea that our speical visitors will enjoy on Friday! We had a great meeting on Monday night where we continue to plan for the nature play area upgrade, as well as many other events! The P&F webpage on our website has a lot of information about our activities, events and meetings. https://www.goldengrove.sa.edu.au/our-community/parents-friends-association/

The PYP describes the capacities of an effective learner in the ‘Learner Profile’. These capacities name 10 attributes that all International Baccalaureate programs, including the Primary Years Programme, the PYP, value. At GGLPS, we reflect on these attributes, acknowledging when students grow, set goals around and display these attributes. Some attributes can be seen as personal, attributes developed within the person of the learner. Others are seen in the relationships that people share when they share and collaborate with others in learning. As we work with our students, we discuss each of these attributes and, within units of inquiry and a wide variety of learning, we give opportunities for students to focus on building these capacities. Below, are the 10 attributes and descriptions of what they each may look like in a learner. Within the GGLPS community, we are all learners, and it is a worthy exercise to reflect on these attributes to understand who we each are as learners, identifying our strengths and areas for growth.
