Division

We have been learning about division in Maths this week. The students engaged in a variety of open-ended tasks that asks them to share a collection equally, and to think of more than one way of solving problems. We have also played some number fluency games towards the end of the week, and the students have absolutely enjoyed it. One of the games is called Salute. Students can play in groups of three or four. One person is the card dealer, and they are in charge of working out the sum of all cards. Each of the other players holds a card on their forehead, players are not allowed to see their own cards, but they can see each other’s card. After the dealer has worked out the sum, the players need to use that information as well as looking at other people’s card to work out what the card on their forehead is. Feel free to play this game with your kids at home as well.

Reading

Students are working on reading with fluency, which means reading with expression, changing tone of voice, getting into characters! The students had opportunity to read in peers, presenting in front of the class.
