Dear Parents and Friends,
Welcome to Term 4. I hope that you were able to enjoy some special time with family and friends during the school break. Term 4 is always a busy Term so I hope that students also had some time to rest.
Last Term Talitha Wan (Year 6) represented St Christopher's in the Syndal District Athletics Competition (triple jump). After winning this event she qualified for the Waverley Division event which took place yesterday. Talitha also won this event and will move on to the Regional Competion in two weeks time. This is an amazing effort and we are very proud of Talitha and wish her all the best for the next event!
On Friday the 27th October (2-3:15pm), all students will participate in a Walkathon. The purpose of this activity is to raise money for the Parent's Association who will donate the money to our school for playground improvements and social activities. On the day students will walk around a course as many times as they can within one hour. Please support your child to collect sponsorship. If your child cannot find their form, please have them collect another one from the office.
Please note that 24 November will be a school closure day. Teachers will participate in curriculum planning. Camp Australia After School Care may be availble depending on the demand from families. A decision will be communicated closer to the day.
Students were this week informed of the very sad news of the passing of Dylan Jayawickrama. Dylan would have been in Year 1 this year at St Christopher's, but sadly passed away last week after a long battle with a serious medical condition. Dylan was not able to commence school due to illness, but the students in Prep last year and Miss Calafiore, continued to keep in touch and support him. We remembered Dylan and shared prayers for his family at our assembly on Wednesday. The prayer can be found on the previous page.
Today we had a casual clothes day fundraiser for the Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne. Students raised $528.80! Well done everyone!
On Thursday 19th October our staff will have a Breast Cancer Luncheon to raise money for BCNA. If you would like to purchase a Breast Cancer Cookie to help raise funds, these are available from the Office now for $5 each.
On Tuesday the 2024 Prep class visited to take part in an Art lesson with Miss Mangone. Next year there will be two Prep classes which will mean great support for the students at this level. If you know any families still looking for a school for next year, please ask them to contact our office.
Reports will be available on your PAM (Parent Access Module) on Wednesday 13th December.
Students last day of school for the year is Friday 15th December at 3.30pm followed by our Annual Christmas Fair. The Fair will include food and drinks and other fun activities and hopefully a visit from Santa!!
All of our extra curricular activities have commenced again this Term. Please note that the new Robo Buddies program is now at capacity. See the 'Extra Curricular Activities' page for registration details.
If you have any concerns regarding your child's learning or well being, please see their teacher or myself.
Regards
