Prayer

of the week

Below is the prayer that was shared at our school assembly on Wednesday when we prayed our friend Dylan.

Dylan Jayawickrama

Today we have gathered to pray for our friend Dylan who has died. Our loving God, rich in mercy, has opened wide the gates of heaven, offering him rest and lasting joy. Let us all say, blessed be God forever.

All: Blessed be God forever.

Even though we are saddened by the death of Dylan, our faith assures us that death is not the end.

1.Dear God, receive our friend Dylan into your glorious Kingdom. Lord hear us.

2. Dear God, we pray that Dylan’s parents, Andrew and Melanie, may find strength in their faith and in the love and support of their family and friends. Lord hear us.

3. Dear Lord, we remember Dylan as a happy and friendly boy. May we keep his spirit alive as we continue our journey through life. Lord hear us.

4. We pray for all those who looked after Dylan, including the doctors, nurses and staff at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne. We ask you Lord to continue to guide them in their work. Lord hear us.

Let us join together for the Lord’s Prayer.

Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.
