Embracing Faith & Compassion: Catholic Mission Month in October

October brings with it a special significance for our school, parish and the global Catholic community. The month of October is dedicated to Catholic Mission. It is Pope Francis’ official agency for global mission and each year we are invited to contribute. The theme for 2023 is entitled ‘Hearts on Fire, Feet on the Move’

It serves as a reminder of our calling to make a positive difference in the world, inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ. St. Mary’s Learners are invited and called upon to enact upon their faith. They learn about ways in which they can actively contribute with acts of compassion and service towards others.

Foundation Learners are called to live like Jesus and find out about ways that they can show kindness towards others. Year 2 Learners investigate what ‘mission’ means and will get the opportunity to visit aged care residents. Learners in Year’s 3 & 4’s Religious Education Unit is entitled ‘Reaching out & Serving Others’. In Year’s 5 & 6 Learners will be a part of the call to action through a variety of initiatives to promote and be involved in Socktober activities. We will work towards raising funds for Catholic Mission, particularly directed towards projects in Timor-Leste.

Wednesday Midday Mass at our Parish

A number of our learners in different year levels are attending Mass at Church this term. Our Year 2 community attended Mass at Midday yesterday, which was both a worthwhile and rewarding experience for our learners. Also a great opportunity to connect with our parish during the celebration of the Eucharist.

Prayer

Merciful God,

Help us to share our faith, with our eyes open and our feet in motion,

Through prayer, service, love and action.

Guide us with your spirit to understand the needs of all people.

Rekindle our hearts with charity, compassion, always embracing hope.

Amen

Fellow Parishioners – Can you Help?

As a Parish initiative we are going to have an annual Parish Magazine – but we do not have a name! The magazine will focus on our ministry groups, their people and the general Parish community. Our magazine’s name should reflect our community and the place in which we live. All suggestions should be forwarded to pcc@stmarysechuca.org.au (Julie Moyle). The final date for name suggestions will be 26th September. Thanks again everyone for your support and commitment to growing our Parish community. A date to note – Our magazine will be launched at the Parish Christmas Party on 10th December – put the date in your diary now!
