Week 10 Term 3
Selamat Siang! We hope all of the students and families from the Leadership Centre have had an enjoyable term! It has been an exciting and eventful time, and we are looking forward to more adventures in Term Four.

I think anyone reading this article would agree we’ve had our fair share of exciting events this term. If I thought of every event we’ve had so far I don’t think I could find one I didn’t enjoy. Out of the disco, school camp, the Sciencewits and Book Week it’s pretty hard to find something I didn’t love. As usual, Book Week was a massive hit! I loved seeing everyone in their costumes! (Although there was an abundance of Harry Potters…) So many parents came to see their grinning children marching through the crowds. Book week was great, however, in my opinion, we had something I loved so much more… 5/6 camp! The giant swing flew through the air as it sailed towards the ground and out into the sky! Laser tag's ominous feel was suspenseful to no end, not to mention candle making which was the perfect calm cool-down to our previous experiences. Our term has been epic, no one could disagree with that! This whole term I got up excited to go to school, wondering what was going to happen next. Can’t wait for next term!

This has been a busy term for 5/6s in all areas, and we want to share what we have done in the classroom for term 3. We have had a jam-packed term when it comes to writing! We started the term off strong with debates. Everyone wrote and presented a debate, it was amazing to see everyone go out of their comfort zone and give it a shot! We also did narratives in writing including our Big Write!
In Maths we did a project focusing on volume. It was called the ‘Chocolate Challenge’. We had to create the smallest chocolate bar with a certain dimension. We then had challenges using our chocolate bar. After that, we focused on BIDMAS/ BODMAS, and had word problems as well as number problems. Shortly after, we did a segment on multiplication and division. Now we are currently doing Cartesian planes and coordinates.
In Reading, we did a lot of synthesising different texts and videos. We had book week as well, we had a lot of opportunities to do author studies and book reviews. Throughout the term, we watched different BTNs (Behind the News) and answered questionnaires about the show.
We have had an eventful term in Guided Inquiry with our topic ‘Social Justice’; we have learned about equity over equality. Now we are doing a project on refugees and their stories.
Some other things in the classroom we have splashed around in the pool for the first two weeks of term, and in wellbeing, we have been focusing on gratitude. We are grateful that you have read this!
