REPRESENTATIVE SPORT
MacKillop Athletics Championships
On Monday 18th September we had 11 students attend the MacKillop Trial Athletics Championships at Sydney Olympic Park. Well done to Lana B, Mateo B, Kieran C, Jordan G, Miranda O, Grace T, Noah VD, Abigail W, Ella F, Beatriz RP & Eva C. A big shout out to Eva C for filling in for Isabel M in the Junior Girls Relay in her absence. That is the St Pat's spirit! Overall it was an extremely hot day but our athletes withstood the heat and made our school proud. Unfortunately Sophie A had a clash in sporting events and had to attend the NSW Girls Football Training Camp instead. Here are some of the highlights from the day:
Lana B - 1st 100m, 1st 200m and breaking the record in the 200m!! Previous record 28.33 and Lana now holds it at 28.28.
Kieran C - 5th 1500m, 3rd High Jump
Jordan G - 4th 100m
Miranda O - 5th 200m
Noah VD - 5th High Jump
SPORTING PATHWAYS 2023/2024
Thank you to all families who filled out the nomination form with details of your child’s specific sporting level outside of school. In-school trials have already commenced for some sports to select the students who will represent St Patrick’s at the Conference Trial. Next term, the new representative sporting calendar begins as we lead into the 2024 season. The Conference trials that will be held in Term 4 are:
- AFL boys
- Basketball Boys
- Netball Girls
- Touch Football Boys and Girls
- Cricket
All other sports will be held in Term 1, 2024 or as information is provided to the school.
All students displayed great skill and effort in our recent school trial for Basketball and Touch Football. Mr Taylor and myself were extremely impressed with the way the boys presented themselves on the court and field. Unfortunately we were unable to select all boys to move forward in the trailing process. It was good to see great resilience to those who were unsuccessful and even better to see students happy for their peers who were selected. Students selected will need to attend the Conference Trial in the schools representative jersey. Mrs Col will hand these out upon return to Term 4.
SCHOOL REPRESENTATIVE JERSEY
With many of our larger sporting events wrapping up for Term 3 could all students who have borrowed a representative jersey or singlet please have it returned to the school office. Thank you to the many families who have already done so. We will be doing a thorough stocktake of representative jerseys so we can order more for 2024. We are currently in the process of introducing a new method of jersey distributions for the future. This is to ensure all students representing our school at interschool sport and through the sporting pathways have their own jersey/singlet to wear.
INTERSCHOOL SPORT
