K-2 Update

Repeated reading instruction involves students reading the same sentence, passage or text numerous times over the week.  As they are reading they are building on rate, accuracy and expression to build fluency.  Students can also use timers to monitor their speed and count how many words they are reading in 1 minute intervals.

Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 have implemented repeated reading into their literacy blocks.  Students have also been encouraged to do repeated reading at home.  It is an effective, evidence-based approach to fluency instruction.

Over the holidays students are encouraged to continue reading daily and reading the same text at least 3-4 times.

HAPPY READING
