Ladies Football

It was a huge week for the Ladies as the Semi-Finals loomed. The first match of the week was a knockout game against CSU. CSU had proved to be a nemesis in the last couple of weeks and the ladies were looking for revenge. Under lights on a Tuesday night is always a chilly affair in Orange but there was a huge crowd who watched an absorbing contest. CSU scored an early goal and despite numerous attacks from Phoebe Gordon and Lucy Ashton KWS were unable to make a breakthrough. A more attacking formation after the break saw a goal from Oli Dillon and the full time hooter went with the score locked at 1 all. Extra time saw cramps in some very tired legs but both teams determinedly fought till full tie. With the scores locked it was time for penalties and there was about as much drama here as with the Matildas. Sophie Heath as the keeper made a save and we were through to the Semis.

It was a clash against Waratahs and results between the two teams had been topsy turvy all season. Another huge crowd was again in attendance and there were tackles, shots and passes flying everywhere. It was an absorbing game and the highlight was the stout defense of KWS with Emma Gaston, Steph Wong, Charlotte England, Bonnie McPhee and Felicity Knox all proving hard to beat. Highlight of the day was Phoebe Gordon’s goal which led to the loudest cheer I have ever heard at a KWS Football game. With the scores locked at 1-1 it was extra time for the second time in a week. Unfortunately the ladies did not prevail this time. It was a fitting end to the season with the old heads and rookies all putting in an excellent effort as they have done all season.

Rep Update

Music

In recent weeks, the talented musicians from our school have been diligently and passionately preparing for the Orange Eisteddfod, and their dedication has paid off in a resounding manner. We are thrilled that our students have achieved nothing short of outstanding results throughout the duration of this event.

Five of our ensembles showcased their exceptional musical prowess and clinched the coveted 1st place in their respective categories. This incredible achievement is a testament to the unwavering commitment, hard work, and exceptional talent of our musicians.

The ensembles not only demonstrated their musical prowess but also served as exceptional ambassadors for our school's music program. They displayed the highest level of professionalism, teamwork, and dedication, which truly exemplifies the values and ethos of our school.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to each member of these remarkable ensembles and their dedicated leader, Jackie Shields. Your passion, talent, and relentless pursuit of excellence have not only earned you well-deserved recognition but have also brought pride and honour to our school.

As we celebrate these outstanding accomplishments, we would like to acknowledge the entire music program team. Without the hard work of Jackie Shields and her team none of this would be possible.

The achievements at the Orange Eisteddfod are a testament to the strength of our music program and the incredible potential of our students. We are immensely proud of their accomplishments and look forward to witnessing their continued growth and success in the world of music.
