I am thrilled to share with you some exciting updates from our talented young athletes who have been giving their all on the field. Our students have shown tremendous dedication and sportsmanship in recent weeks, and I couldn't be prouder of their achievements. Let's dive into the action!
Our Netball team has been nothing short of spectacular in the last two weeks. They displayed their resilience and teamwork in the finals, securing two thrilling victories. In a nail-biting match against the Hawks, they held their ground to win by a narrow 3-goal margin. The excitement continued when they faced a formidable OPS side and emerged victorious with a final score of 30-27. Now, they are gearing up for the Grand Final this Saturday, and we wish them the very best of luck. Keep soaring, girls!
Our U12 Strikers soccer team has been on fire! In a heart-pounding Quarter Final, they triumphed 3-2, with Jack Caro delivering a sensational hat-trick. Making it to the semi-finals is an incredible achievement, and we're cheering them on as they continue their journey. Their dedication and teamwork have been truly remarkable.
We also had the pleasure of hosting The Kings School Prep Football team, providing our students with valuable learning experiences. Our KWS Strikers and Friends played a competitive match, facing some high-quality opponents. While the victory eluded us, it's the lessons learned, and the sportsmanship displayed that truly matter. Thanks to Mr. Barrett and Mrs. Hayward for organising this enriching event.
Our 3/4 Rhinos hockey team may not have secured a win in their qualifying final, but their determination and hard work throughout the season deserve recognition. We applaud their efforts and look forward to cheering on our Lions as they head into their grand final this weekend.
Our Athletics Team recently made us incredibly proud at the scorching HICES Athletics Carnival on August 29. Despite the challenging weather conditions, our students delivered a spectacular performance, securing second place in both overall points and points average categories. Their dedication and extra training sessions undeniably paid off. Special congratulations to the following students - Jack Caro, Elizabeth Croft, Willa Dunlop, Liam Hayward, Aston Lett, Isabelle Provost, Ingrid West, Kimberley William, Marlon Zielinski, Julian Capanas, Jett Johnson, and Ewen Kerridge - who will be representing the School at the upcoming CIS Carnival. Let's continue to support and celebrate their achievements as they aim for greater heights in their athletic journey!
Our Todd Woodbridge Cup team, led by Mrs. Fatai, demonstrated exceptional skill and sportsmanship at the regional finals. Placing second in their pool, they advanced to the semi-finals, where they played a hard-fought match against Forbes PS. Though they narrowly missed the Grand Final, their third-place finish in the playoffs is an excellent result. Special congratulations to Finlay Simpson, who received a teamwork award on the day.
It's not just about winning but how we play the game and represent our School with pride and integrity. Our athletes have certainly embodied these values.
As we continue to witness our young stars shine, let's remember to support and encourage them on their journeys. Our students are not only becoming skilled athletes but also learning important life lessons through sports.
Thank you for being a part of our incredible sporting community.
Warm regards,
Mr Matt Campbell
