Orange Eisteddfod – Bands Day

The Junior School Concert Band had their Orange Eisteddfod performance on Wednesday 30 August at the Orange Function Centre. Under the direction of Ms Katherine Howarth, the band performed Colliding Visions by American composer Brian Balmages with flair and attention to detail. Up against some tough competition from other primary schools in the Orange area, ourJunior Concert Band took home 1st place, scoring 96 points. The adjudicator complimented the ensemble on the choice of challenging repertoire and creating atmosphere through phrase control and dynamic range.

Congratulations to our outstanding band students on your teamwork, effort and dedication, and we look forward to hearing you all progress further in your musical journeys.

Orange Eisteddfod – Strings Day

On Thursday 31 August, our Junior School String Groups – String Orchestra and String Quartet competed in the Orange Esiteddfod. Both ensembles were very well prepared, performed their pieces at a very high standard and they were both awarded first place with 95 points for their performances. It was wonderful that our adjudicator, Ms Phillipa Paige, made mention of the outstanding attention to detail with regards to dynamics, articulations and accurate bowings, all of which we had been working hard to achieve in our rehearsals! She also appreciated how energetic our performance was, and congratulated that each section was confident with knowing their parts, which further emphasises how much of a team effort it is to achieve such a result and fine performance. Congratulations brilliant String players, I am very proud of all of you.

Strings Concert Report

We celebrated the end of a busy term for our string players with a wonderful concert hosted in the DPA which showcased all our string ensembles. The concert featured our youngest players in Beginner Strings through to our most experienced in Chamber Strings, celebrating both large and small string ensembles performing a wide range of music. The high standard of music performed reflected the dedication and commitment of our string tutors and ensemble directors.  Thanks to Ms Lindsay Irik and Mrs Katie Sinclair for their direction of Junior School string ensembles, and Mrs Lorraine Moxey for her direction of our Senior School ensembles. We also acknowledge all our fabulous students and parents who support our program.
