Australian Geography and History Competitions – 2023 results
During Term 2, selected students from Years 7-11 participated in the 2023 Australian Geography and History Competitions. Almost 150,000 students across Australia took part in the competitions this year. At Oxley, 42 students undertook the Geography competition, while 35 students took part in the History competition. We received some fantastic results, of which the most significant achievement was that of Nicole M (7.1) who was recognised as the National Year 7 Champion! Nicole received an engraved medallion, a cash prize, and a leather portfolio containing her certificate and a letter of commendation. We congratulate Nicole for her outstanding achievement. Remarkably, Victor Tan, (7.4), finished runner up to Nicole. It is extraordinary to have these two talented historians in the same year level. Both Nicole and Victor are students of History teacher extraordinaire, Mr Carl Bird.
