In overseeing the many opportunities afforded Killester students, we have witnessed the enthusiasm of Killester students across a broad spectrum of activities in Semester 2 2023 into Semester 1 2024; from sporting and music events to camps and city adventures, LOTE lunches, artists in residence, Maths and Science competitions, public speaking and debating events and a myriad of cross-curricular excursions and incursions, through to Harmony Day performances and cultural dress and Brigidine Day.

Many of our students have been enthusiastically venturing out into the community to undertake external training and partnerships and community service activities. These community connections are allowing them to see life beyond Killester, both for themselves and the reality of life for others, who may be less advantaged than themselves. Students have also been involved in the Youth Consultation process for the re-development of Springvale surroundings, the ANZAC Day and Chinese New Year ceremonies, The City of Greater Dandenong’s Reconciliation Week activities and expos, as well as connections with a number of Primary Schools.

We continue to show clear and tangible evidence of our efforts to work for peace; in our local area, across Australia and throughout the world. The community has strong connections with charitable organisations such as St Vincent de Paul, BASP (Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project) and Wellsprings for Women, Centre for Multicultural Youth, Vietnamese Women’s Association, AMES Noble Park, Aged care residences, as well as ever-increasing connections with the indigenous and cultural groups. These experiences, coupled with curriculum across all year levels, allow Killester students to recognise the many ways they can truly make a difference and bring joy to others.

Our thanks to all of the Alumni members who were involved in the “Dare to Dream” week with Year 10s this year, as they consider their careers and subject selections moving forward to Year 11. We love to see you all back at the school.

The Multicultural Dinner for 2023 was a great success and we are currently in the planning for the 2024 dinner on Saturday 10th August. We continue as a community to show “Strength and Kindliness” in our relationships with each other – be it as students, parents, staff, alumni, extended families and everyone else who interacts with the College.

The International Women’s Day celebration of 2024 saw nearly 200 people be welcomed by Murrundindi (Head Man of the Wurundjeri).

We have also welcomed hundreds of people to the Annual Twilight Opening in March and to the many school tours throughout the year, greeted by our College Ambassadors.

Towards the end of last year we hosted four Reunions and welcomed many alumni members back to the College. This year we are trialling a new format for Reunions by bringing together groups who have finished in the same year-ending eg ‘04 - be they 1974, 84, 94, 04, 14, 24.  This reunion will be held on Sunday 27th October.
