A special mention to the following staff and students who celebrate their birthday this month.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS NSW MESSAGE STICK

The Armidale Diocese will be hosting the 2024 Catholic Schools NSW (CSNSW)

 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Conference “Spirit On Conference: Learning Together, Then, Now & Always” in Tamworth on 22nd - 24th October. 

As part of the conference, a Message Stick has been travelling across our Diocese, sharing the message of coming together, learning together and celebrating together in a monumental educational event that will highlight our students' culture, success, and aspirations and strengthen educational partnerships with our schools, communities, educators and nation. 

The Message Stick is due to arrive at Sacred Heart School at the beginning of Week 2. We will welcome the Message Stick to our school community on Tuesday, May 7th, during a Liturgy. Parents and Families are invited to attend the Liturgy, which will take place in our K-2 classroom at 9am. 

Students will learn about the importance of message sticks in Aboriginal culture and create their own message sticks in class. On Thursday, May 9th, we will go on an excursion to HACC Boggabri to share the CSNSW Message Stick with the staff and residents, and students will have the opportunity to share their own message sticks during this time, too. 

We will farewell the Message Stick from our community on Saturday, May 11th, during our Parish Mass at 4pm. We would love to see children and their families attend this Mass in representation of Sacred Heart School.
