On Wednesday 24th April, students from Foundation-6 began a four week tennis program, delivered by tennis coaches Peter and Charlotte. This is the fourth year running that these coaches have visited our school, and they provide students with a great opportunity to learn and develop a range of different hand eye, movement and tennis based skills. It was so great to see the improvement that has been made my many students over the years of doing the program.
Here are some photos of the 5/6s in action.
Foundation
Our Foundation students are making great strides as they begin to write words using the sounds and digraphs they've been learning. It's a wonderful milestone in their journey towards becoming confident readers and writers. Keep up the fantastic work!
Year 1
Making the most of the beautiful weather on Tuesday, Year 1 spent their Wellbeing lesson in the lovely sunshine outside. We explored and discussed different emotions/feelings and played 'Emotions Scavenger Hunt'. We went around the circle and shared times we have felt certain ways, for example:
This was followed by lunch outside together.

Hello Families,
We had such a great time at the Inquiry Expo and we are so thankful to the families who were able to attend. The children were so proud of their poster’s and slides. It is great to see their learning progressing. The ‘Keeping Healthy’ unit was a part of Inquiry last term. Please enjoy the pictures below. This term we will begin our new learning for Inquiry which has a focus on Science, which I know the children will love. For Religion this term we will be learning about ‘Family and Sacraments’. Children are going to be asked to bring in one or two items from their families that are special to talk about. They will stay in the class for the Term. For example, I am bringing in Rosary Beads which were handed down to me from my grandmother and a picture of my grandparents which is very special to me. I will talk to the children about these items. Families can discuss what items to bring in and why this is special in their family. Children can start to bring items in, if they wish to. Please (if possible) label the items and be mindful that they will be in a classroom. I plan to keep them as safe as possible but consider less fragile items please. Have a wonderful and safe weekend.

NINO's Visit
Last week we visited Nino's Early Learning Centre to read and play with the kindergarten children. It was our first visit for the year and it was good to see some of the quiet students in our class happily reading to the younger children. Our aim is to visit the Nino's Centre once a month.
ANZAC DAY and Year 3/4 Human Body Expo
We have had a busy week this week, learning about ANZAC Day and how to make ANZAC Biscuits. As well as presenting our Expo on The Human Body. It was a very crowded space after lunch when all the students, parents and families come to learn more about the human body. Well done everyone for sharing your learning. Denise
On Tuesday we made ANZAC biscuits and we paired into groups to make them. They were scrumptious and delicious. Our group had to use half of the ingredients for a batch of biscuits. We were making them because we wanted to remember the soldiers that had died in World War 1. The ingredients were brown sugar, desiccated coconut, plain flour, rolled oats, golden syrup, bicarbonate of soda and melted butter. By Laura and Georgia
ANZAC biscuits are crisp, crunchy, taste and fun to make. You can also put milk with them and they don’t go stale quickly.
My expo was fun to make my presentation and it had lots of fun activities. I got to present my learning to everyone, especially to my mum. My topic was about Emotions / Brain, and I did a quiz to help people learn about their emotions. I wanted everyone to learn about it and to enjoy it and have fun. By Mia
On Tuesday we had an Expo about the Human Body to share our learning.
We all did different body parts, my (Katalina) body part was the heart and I learnt a lot by researching. For example Your heart beats 115 000 beats a day. The heart pumps 2000 gallons of blood around the body each day.
I (Amy) learnt about the stomach, how the food gets into and around the stomach. The gastric juices break down the food so it can go into the intestines. By Amy and Katalina
We made some stickers on the white paper and it looked pretty. It was to represent the red blood cells and white blood cells. Blood carries oxygen around our body to help us to live, the oxygen goes into the cells to keep them alive. We enjoyed making a presentation with Susie and Olivia and it helped others to learn about the blood. By Aisha

'Greedy Pig' is a fun game that we sometimes play at the start of a Maths session. It is fun because you have to decide whether you keep going or stop and take a risk. It is played by someone rolling a 6-sided dice. Every time it rolls a number, you have to add it up in your head. If it rolls a 2 - everyone who is left standing is out and is a 'greedy pig'. The winner is the person who sat down and has the most points. Nirav
The 'Coin Flip’ game is really fun because you have to take chances to win and it is really competitive! Tristan
‘Greedy Pig' is a game of chance and it is a really fun game. The aim of the game is that you need to decide to take a risk and keep going or sit down and take what you’ve got. Shamus and Cody
Yesterday we played a game called the'Multiplication Dice Game’. In this game, you roll two dice and then multiply the two numbers together. Then you roll one dice again and subtract that number from your past answer. Then with your new number, you grab a counter and place the number on the sheet. You need five in a row to win. We liked how you could change the rules of the game and how it is related to maths and chance. Natalie and Callix
‘Greedy Pig' is a game of chance. When playing ‘Greedy Pig', we think that most people enjoy it. Some of our favorite chance words are ‘most likely’ and ‘less likely’ because it’s not 100% or 0%. ‘Greedy Pig' is an easy and fun game to play. Kaitlyn and Azariah
This week, we played a game called 'Multiplication Dice Game' at the beginning of Maths. This game is a game of chance and probability because you have to get five in a row to win. And you have to know your multiplication and subtraction to win. It is an exciting game to play with your friends and a good game to play when you want to get better at your time tables. Aleisha and Raffaele
The ‘Coin Flip Game’ is all about chance as in taking risks. There are two sides on a coin, one side is heads and the other side is tails. The game works by someone flipping a coin, with everyone else standing up and needing to put their hands on their head if they think heads will come up or putting their hands on their back if they think that tails will come up. If the coin lands on heads, that means the people who chose heads stay in and those who choose tails are out and have to sit down. Lauren and Jasmine
In Maths we played this game that teaches us multiplication and even subtraction. But you can also do addition with it as well. The game is a good dice game and it is enjoyable to play with my friends. It is called 'Multiplication Dice Game' . Tiffany
In Maths we played a chance game called ‘Coin Flip Game’. In this game you need a con and some people. First, you have to choose heads or tails - if you choose heads, you have to put your hands on your head and if you choose tails, you have to put your hands on your backside. Then someone would flip the coin and whatever it landed on, the opposite people had to sit down! You do this until there is only one person left in the game. We played this and we felt this is a very interesting game and we loved playing it! Allie and Stephanie
