Year 2 Echidnas and Platypuses

In addition to learning about the history of the land upon which Optus Stadium sits, Year 2 have been busy in the classroom practising writing and maths!

In English, we have been exploring different text types. We have written letters to our family which we hope to post later in term. We planned a Teddy Bear recess picnic and wrote invitations for the event. Now we are researching our native Australian Echidna and Platypus and will soon write an information report on them.

In Mathematics we have been learning about ‘quarter to’ and ‘quarter past’ and the Platypuses were able to apply their learning in a fun game of ‘What’s The Time Mr Wolf?’.

Meanwhile the Echidnas have been spending big with play money as a way of helping them with place value. Both classes have been enjoying a Mathematics warm-up game of Splat in which they work out the number of dots that are covered.
