From the Principal's Desk...

Dear Parents and Caregivers

It is great to be back at St Helena's and see all the wonderful learning, cooperation and fun happening around the classrooms in the school. The students and staff have been working very hard! Thank you to all the staff for your efforts in getting Term 2 well and truly underway and to Miss Melissa Myles and Mr Luke Vine for your continued leadership in my absence. While on System Leader Renewal Leave I was blessed to visit many amazing shrines, with two of my favourites being Our Lady of Fatima and Our Lady of Lourdes. Our tour also had me retracing the steps of Ignatius of Loyola, Ignatius being one of our faction patrons at St Helena's.

Congratulations SHCPS Swimming Team

Congratulations to our SHCPS Swimming Team who came 3rd out of 8 schools in the interschool swimming carnival last Friday. An awesome effort by our whole swimming team! We are very proud of you all! Congratulations to individual champions. Zaylee in Year 6, Finn in Year 5 and Oscar in Year 4 for receiving Champions for their year groups and Ashlin in Year 6 for receiving Runner Up Champion. Thanks again to the efforts of Mr Aaron Clarke for his training of the team and preparation for the day. Thanks too, to Miss Myles and Mrs De Carvalho your support and to all the parents and caregivers for your efforts in getting the students to training and supporting them on the day.

Awesome Year 6 Camp Adventures

Our Year 6 students had an awesome adventure on camp last week and they should all be very impressed with their efforts in the designated activities and getting along together as a team. Thanks again to Mrs Joanna Bukara, Ms Jessica Healy, Mr Lewis Diep, Mrs Nicole Pidala and Mr Luke Vine who attended the camp with the students. Thank you Miss Myles for being there in the evenings too, assisting with the evening activities. An appreciated commitment from you all!

P&F Meeting - Come Along!

Come along to our P&F Meeting on Thursday evening - 9 May @ 6:00pm in our Library and contribute to the ideas and events that are being planned at St Helena's Catholic Primary School for the rest of the year. Come and support our P&F committee and each other for the best interests of all our students!

Farewell & Thanks

On Friday we farewell Mrs Krystie Clark who will be leaving SHCPS to take up an Assistant Principal role at Our Lady of Mercy Primary School. We thank Krystie for her commitment to the students and her role as Learning Support Coordinator and wish her all the best for the future. The appointment process for our new Learning Support Coordinator is almost complete, with the new Learning Support Coordinator commencing at the start of Term 3.

Prayers for our students preparing for Sacraments

Keep in our prayers all the students at St Helena's and in our Parish preparing for their First Reconciliation this term, as well as the students preparing for their Confirmation.

Don't Miss It! - Paul Litherland @ SHCPS

Please save the date - Wednesday 12 June. Paul Litherland is coming to St Helena's to run a very informative Parent Information Session on Cyber Safety. I urge at least one member from each family to come along. A great opportunity to keep informed with all that is happening in our online world. Paul was at St Helena's last year with very positive feedback from the parents and caregivers in attendance.

We have been sharing lots of important information and dates via our communication channels, including our weekly "What's On at St Helena's" communication sent out on a Friday afternoon each week. Please also keep an eye on our calendar on our website to ensure you are up-to-date with events coming up.

Kindy Enrolment for 2025

Enrolment interviews for Kindergarten in 2025 are continuing to take place. Families with siblings born between July 2020 and June 2021 seeking a place in our Kindergarten next year at St Helena's are asked to ensure that you have sent in your enrolment applications to Administration.

Happy Mother's Day

Looking forward to seeing everyone at our Mother's Day Breakfast and Liturgy this Friday 10 May. Wishing all our Mums a very Happy Mother's Day and prayers and blessings to the Mums looking over us in heaven too.

At St Helena's, we are a Christ-centred and a child-focused community,

always striving to do Something Beautiful for God.

Peace & Happy Days!
