Learning Across the

Junior School

From the Assistant Principal: Head of Junior School

Welcome back to another exciting and busy term. We hope you've all had a restful break and are ready to join us in all the exciting events planned for this term.

I'm thrilled to share that we've introduced a new decodable reading program for our younger students this term. This series, carefully selected from Decodable Readers Australia, is designed to align with our students' learning. It's about developing reading fluency and comprehension and providing a strong foundation for the students' reading journey. We've already seen the joy on the girls' faces as they engage with these new resources, and we're confident it will greatly benefit their progress.

On Thursday, it was wonderful to see many of our Year 3 students make their First Sacrament of Reconciliation in the Loreto Chapel, led by Father Chris Jenkins SJ. The girls have been diligently preparing for this special event, and it's a testament to their hard work and the guidance of their teachers, Ms Hattie Ziesing and Ms Haylee Porter, and our Religious Education Coordinator, Ms Isabelle Roberts. It was a truly reverent and meaningful occasion for all, and we're immensely proud of our students.

As communicated this week, our Junior School Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day will be held on Friday, 24 May. This is a very special occasion in our calendar on which we build our strong Loreto community. Please be sure to make a booking using the link in the invitation.

This is just a friendly reminder that the disability car park adjacent to the boarding house can only be accessed by people with a permit. I trust that everyone respects the importance of making this available to people who genuinely require this facility.

I wish all our mothers a wonderful Mother's Day on Sunday. I hope you get time to relax and spend time with your family. We have adjusted the Reception Mother's Day Liturgy time to 8.45 a.m. to allow those attending the morning tea at the Acacias to come across to the Junior School.

On Friday 3 May, both of the year 5 classes had their showcase. It was a fantastic event, and we thank everyone for coming! The showcase was entirely student-led, each girl was able to share pieces of their learning that they felt most proud of. Gathering together in the quad with some picnic rugs and snacks was a great way to start off our Thursday morning.
