The Sod Turn event on 26 March embarked the important milestone of the beginning of the construction phase of our capital works project. The event included a school tour and discussion with MP Sonja Terpstra over morning tea. Bec Gilmore joined in, representing the school council, along with students Hamish and Ruby who did a great job talking about the swimming program and presenting the Acknowledgement of Country.
Building project works have continued over the past few weeks, with signs of building structures becoming more visible. The carpark at the front of the site is taking shape with large stones and blocks creating a retaining wall. The pool has begun construction with the concrete floor poured and the walls being built.
Next week are excited to celebrate Education Week. We have planned a range of STEM based activities that classes will be engaging in throughout the week. We would then really like our parents and carers to come along on Friday morning to participate in a STEM activity together.
Open Morning: Friday 17 May, 9-10:30am.
For parents/carers, learn more about encouraging your child with STEM skills. The following external websites may also help provide for further ideas:
Maths video resources for young children can be accessed through the Mathscots animation series and Everyday Maths animations.
Next week is SSG Week, (13-17 May). We are now using Compass as the SSG meeting booking system, this can be found under the, 'Conference Booking' tab.
Please let your classroom teacher know if you cannot access Compass to book in a meeting time and they will let you know what times are available.
We encourage all parents/carers to meet with classroom teachers to discuss your child's progress towards their learning goals. This is a great opportunity to hear about the success your child has had through the year already.
