Principal's Report

Dear families,

Week 3 has begun and the term is now in full swing. It has been a great couple of weeks at Whitehorse Primary School.

School tours

There has been lots of interest in our school for 2027 Foundation students. Enrolments are now open and tours have been running each week to showcase all that Whitehorse has to offer. Please spread the word with family and friends in the local area who may have children starting school next year!

Open Night

This year, during Education Week we are opening up our school for Open Night on Thursday 21 May. We will be open from 5:30pm to 6:30pm for lots of hands on fun! This will include scone making and tasting in our Kitchen, lego, robotics and microscopes in STEM, educational games in our Foundation area etc. Our student helpers will be showcasing our Questacon program with an opportunity for families to have a go at some of the challenges together. There will also be lots of work on display and a live performance from our school choir. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Camping Program

Our Year 3/4 students enjoyed their time at Allambee Camp last week and created lots of special memories to look back on! A huge thank you again to all our staff who attended Camp as well as our two parent volunteers Simon Beardall and Jonathon Ellis who came along to support our students. Camp is an extremely fun but also tiring experience and we appreciate you all for the hard work you put into making it such a success and also for spending time away from your families and work responsibilities (for our parent volunteers) to help out!

At Whitehorse we have an excellent school camping program. Here is a list of the camps students get to look forward to!

Year 3/4 Camps:

Allambee Camp (Even Year)

Phillip Island Adventure Resort (Odd Year)

Year 5/6 Camps:

Alexandra Camp (Even Year)

Canberra Tour (Odd Year)

Behaviour Expectations

SWPBS is an evidence-based, whole-school framework that supports a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment at Whitehorse Primary School. It establishes clear expectations and shared values across our school community and recognises that like reading, writing or maths, expected behaviours need to be explicitly taught!

Our school values (respect for ourselves, others and our school) are at the heart of our behaviour matrix.

As a family, please sit down with your child or children and go through this matrix to support them to be successful in both their learning and their interactions with others in our school community.

If you have any concerns around student behaviour or wellbeing please first speak to your child’s classroom teacher, the PLC Leader or myself. We can only work through problems we know about so communication between home and school is so important!
