Koala Classroom

Welcome to the Koala Class!
Play Based Learning
Play-based learning is a vital part of education for infants students, helping them develop creativity, social skills, and critical thinking in a natural and enjoyable way. Through play, young learners explore their environment, build language and communication abilities, and practise problem-solving, while gaining confidence and resilience. This hands-on, student-centred approach supports overall growth, making learning both meaningful and fun. Integrating play into early education sets a strong foundation for lifelong curiosity and a love of learning.
Triantiwontigongolope
Our current English Unit of Work has quickly become our favourite to date. We have been exploring "The Triantiwontigongolope," a famous Australian nonsense poem by C.J. Dennis, first published in 1921. The poem describes an imaginary, funny insect that is part spider, part beetle, and part bee, which scares people but mysteriously vanishes when searched for. This playful poem is often used in schools to teach rhythm and rhyme, and it has the boys captivated, enthusiastic, and full of creative ideas. We were proud to present our work to families at assembly on Friday, showcasing the fantastic learning and imagination sparked by this unique poem.
Mathematics
In Maths, our focus has been all about numbers! We have been exploring combinations to 10 and 20, developing a strong understanding of place value, and building their confidence with counting and number patterns. We have approached this learning through engaging activities and hands-on learning. It’s fantastic to see the students growing in their mathematical thinking and enjoying the challenges.
