Beyond the Gates

CNPS 2025 graduate, Louis Cummings, and his dad Toby, last week undertook a charity walk of their own making called 'The Pier for Papa'. The duo walked 110kms (!) from their home in Fitzroy North all the way to the Portsea Pier, where Louis' grandfather's ashes were scattered after succumbing to a rare brain disease, Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), in 2014.

Louis can't remember his Papa very well, but he and his dad wanted to let him know that he's still loved and remembered by spending three days together on a VERY long walk: 36kms on day one, 37kms on day two, and a marathon 42.5kms on the final day! Louis' sister, Rose (Grade 4 at CNPS this year) joined for a stretch of the walk too.

The Pier for Papa also became an effort to raise funds for research into this little known disease, and the pair have so far raised $7520. Their GoFundMe page will be live until Sunday 3 May if anyone in the CNPS community would like to get behind this very worthy cause, and show your support for Louis' incredible effort!
