Book Week 2026: A Symphony of Stories 🎶

Get ready to strike a chord! This year, we are celebrating Children’s Book Week from 22 – 28 August, and the theme is "Symphony of Stories."

This year’s theme celebrates the harmony and diversity found within books, featuring incredible artwork by award-winning illustrator Briony Stewart. From whimsical animals to magical explorers, the "Symphony" brings together a wild collection of characters that show how every story adds its own unique note to the world.

Explore the Magic Online

We encourage parents and students to visit the official CBCA website to meet this year's characters, explore the shortlisted books, and find inspiration for their own reading journeys.

What's Happening?

Keep an eye out in the coming weeks for more information regarding our annual Book Week Parade and special library activities. It’s a wonderful time for our students, from our youngest kindy readers to our Year 6s, to celebrate the stories they love.

Whether you're dressing up as a classic hero or a new favourite from the YA section, we can't wait to see how our school community brings this symphony to life!

Paying for Misplaced Books

Part of running a library is the maintenance and upkeep of our school’s collection. Believe it or not, 15 to 20 books need repair regularly, and 5 to 10 books go missing each year. It is an unfortunate side of managing a library, but Mr Matthews and Ms Lee do their best to ensure books are repaired or replaced at regular intervals.

We understand that many books are misplaced unintentionally, often left on public transport or at stores. The school library’s policy is that if the book can be returned, we would greatly appreciate it. However, if you receive a library notice and prefer to pay for a replacement, this can be done through the School Bytes website.

Please click the link below for the Parent Guide to paying for a lost or damaged book:

As always, if you believe the book has been returned to the school, please have your child bring their overdue notice to the library. Mr Matthews, Ms Lee, and our wonderful volunteers will do their best to locate the book and remove the charge from your child’s record.

Have a great weekend and as always, keep on reading.
