Stage 2 Multicultural Public Speaking Competition

Yesterday, our school hall was transformed into something truly special. Our finalists in the Stage 2 Multicultural Public Speaking Competition deeply inspired and quietly moved the students and teachers present, leaving everyone inspired by their words of wisdom.

Our finalists took to the stage with remarkable composure and courage. Each student delivered a prepared speech before facing the ultimate test of any young speaker: the impromptu challenge.

What They Said — And Why It Matters

The theme of multiculturalism gave our students an opportunity to share insightful and creative responses. Across the speeches, a handful of powerful messages shone through:

"If we share celebrations, we share life stories." What a simple and profound truth. When we sit at each other's tables, join each other's festivities, and listen to each other's songs, we aren't just being polite, we are building understanding that lasts a lifetime.

"We can build a place where everyone belongs." This wasn't wishful thinking from our students, it was a call to action. A reminder that belonging isn't something that just happens; it is something we create, together, every day.

"We are one human race, regardless of where we live." In a world that can sometimes feel divided, hearing a primary school student stand tall and declare our shared humanity was genuinely moving.

"Make space for everyone." Simple. Direct. And perhaps the most important instruction any of us can carry into our daily lives, at school, at work and in our neighbourhoods.

A big thank you...

To all the students who competed, your bravery in stepping onto that stage, especially during the impromptu round, is something to be genuinely proud of.

To the families who supported and encouraged your children through preparation and practice, it showed. Every word they spoke carried your support behind it.

And to the teachers who guided them, thank you for creating the conditions where young people feel safe enough to speak their truth.

We couldn't be prouder!

Winter Uniform

Students are required to wear the winter uniform in Terms 2 and 3. We ask that your child wears extra layers, such as a jumper or jacket, on top of their school uniform. This way, they can easily remove these layers as the day gets warmer. Please ensure that extra clothing is worn over, not under, their school uniform.

The school has a year-round "No Hat, Play in the Shade" policy. If students do not have a hat, they must stay in a supervised, shaded area during outdoor activities.

Student Achievement

Taekwondo NSW State-wide competitions

The NSW Open Taekwondo Championships and South Coast Open Taekwondo Championships were held in April at the Dunc Gray Velodrome and the Shoalhaven Indoor Sports Centre respectively.

A group of CPS students from Chung Do Taekwondo Chatswood proudly represented the school at both competitions. Since the beginning of the year, the students have trained extremely hard, and many achieved excellent results by winning medals in sparring and/or poomsae (technical patterns) across their respective age divisions and belt levels.

Competition days were long and tiring at times, but the students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to compete against participants from across NSW and test their growth and ability in the sport.

Congratulations to all of the students and coaches on their dedication, effort, and achievements. With valuable experience gained from these competitions, the students are now preparing for the upcoming Taekwondo NSW State Championships to be held in August.
