December 1st, 2025   Zoe

Gallery Image

Our Super Hero for this week is a curious and enthusiastic learner who begins each lesson eager to make the most of every learning opportunity. Zoe consistently shows all of our school values and learning dispositions, with CARE and EXCELLENCE evident in everything she does and in the way she interacts with others.

Zoe is a CARING friend who shows genuine empathy and a thoughtful understanding of others’ perspectives. She speaks kindly, explains her ideas patiently, and stands up for her friends when their viewpoint isn’t fully understood. She loves helping others learn, offering helpful advice and encouraging her classmates to do their best. Her sense of fun, humor, and enthusiasm brightens our days and brings smiles to everyone around her.

Zoe exemplifies EXCELLENCE, approaching academic tasks with enthusiasm and focus. She listens carefully, asks insightful questions, and embraces feedback to deepen her understanding. She works consistently, ignoring distractions and striving to produce work that is beautifully presented, reflects the complexity of her thinking, and pushes her skills to the next level. Her positive attitude and willingness to take on challenges have helped her build confidence and achieve fantastic growth across all areas of the curriculum.

Studio 2 is so proud to have this motivated, kind, enthusiastic and positive student in our class. Congratulations to Zoe, on being this week’s Super Hero!

This week’s Superhero is being recognised for demonstrating the values of care and persistence, and the learning disposition of being adventurous.

Bella is someone others turn to. Described by her peers as kind and dependable, she is always there when someone needs support. She is a great listener who offers the right help at the right time. When challenges come up, she works with both peers and trusted adults to find fair and thoughtful solutions. She stays true to who she is, standing quietly firm in her values, while always being respectful and considerate of those around her.

In her learning, she shows real persistence. This is particularly evident in Writing and Mathematics, where she demonstrates determination and a willingness to stick with it. Bella will try different strategies, ask for feedback, and collaborate with peers. Often, it is about slowly piecing the puzzle together with her teacher, sitting in the struggle, talking it through, not getting it, “seeing how it is” and keeping at it until the aha moment arrives.

Bella also shows what it means to be an adventurous learner by being willing to have a go. Putting her hand up when she knows the answer, and when she is not completely sure. Bella follows instructions, takes clear notes, and makes sure to be prepared. Because of this, she can give things a crack; experimenting with ideas and stepping outside her comfort zone. She is even willing to stand up in front of the class to dance or belt out a tune. With this spirit, she may one day find herself in the room where it happens.

We are proud to recognise this Studio 11 student who cares deeply, keeps going when things are hard, and brings energy and courage to her learning. Keep laughing and continue to sing! Congratulations to this week’s Superhero. Bella Fisher!

Our amazing choir performed at R.M. Begg last week, sharing a selection of Christmas songs and a wonderful celebratory song from Africa. The students are such talented and engaging performers, they memorised three songs (including one in another language!) and shone brightly with their stage presence and confidence. We are so proud of their dedication and musicality.

The choir will also be performing at our End-of-Year Assembly, and we can’t wait for the whole school community to hear them.

Instrumental Concert Celebration

What an amazing evening! It was such a joy to hear our students perform so confidently and musically at Monday night’s instrumental concert.

Our violin ensemble was a total delight, showcasing beautiful tone and teamwork. We enjoyed guitars playing a huge variety of musical styles, and our trumpet and clarinet players impressed everyone with their lovely tone, it’s incredible to get a note out of these instruments, let alone play a tune! We also had a gorgeous ukulele ensemble that brought wonderful energy to the night.

The audience was so engaged, and our students listened beautifully to their peers, showing respect and genuine support for one another.

A huge thank you to our amazing instrumental teachers, Aaron, Pauline, Monica and Sue, and Sandra. They are all highly experienced, dedicated and caring educators, and their expertise shone through in the skills our students displayed.

Our keyboard Concert is on Thursday and I’m sure it will be just as special as ever.

Congratulations to all performers! We are so proud of you.

Instrumental Lessons

Students from Grade 2–6 are invited to join our instrumental music program. Lessons are available in guitar, ukulele, keyboard, trumpet, clarinet, flute, violin and voice. Forms and information are available at the office, or you can email me to request a copy.

All our instrumental teachers are highly experienced, dedicated and truly amazing. Being involved in the instrumental program not only builds musical skills but also strengthens your child’s academic rigour, focus and confidence.

Happy Holidays everyone,

Ms Polly

French News

French Highlights This Term

It has been a lively and culture-packed term in French at KPS, with students across the school diving into hands-on experiences that made language learning colourful, musical and delicious!

Years 5 and 6 travelled (musically!) to West Africa through a loud and energetic African drumming incursion. As part of their inquiry into French-speaking countries around the world, students explored rhythm, language and cultural traditions in a fun and memorable way.

Years 1 and 2 stepped into the magic of le cirque, enjoying a fun-filled French circus incursion. With scarves flying, plates spinning and batons twirling, students practised French body-part words, colours and action verbs while learning simple circus skills.

Years 3 and 4 reflected on Australia’s historical connection to France in World War I by creating beautiful oil pastel artworks. They also embraced French Christmas traditions by making their own bûches de Noël. A sweet way to explore how culture, history and celebration are intertwined.

Our Prep students wrapped up their playful unit on fruit with a colourful cooking session, chopping, mixing and tasting their own fruit salads. They loved naming each fruit in French as they went. Learning never tasted so good!

What a term of creativity, culture and connection in French. Bravo to all our students for their enthusiasm and curiosity.

Joyeux Noël !

As we near the end of the year, we will begin running down our stock levels. This means that some hot food items may not be available for lunch orders over the next week. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience.

We’re excited to offer a variety of new treats for the children to enjoy before the year ends, including Fruity Freeze Pops, Milky Moo Pops, and Yogurt Yum.

A big thank you to all the KPS children who have shown beautiful manners while ordering from the canteen.

Ride to School Fridays

We are thrilled to announce that every Friday from now until the end of Term 1 next year is officially Ride to School Friday! 🚲🛴🚶‍♀️

Let’s make the most of the beautiful weather ahead by riding, walking, or scootering to school. It’s a fantastic way to kickstart your day with fresh air, fun, and fitness. Plus, it’s great for the planet and a wonderful way to connect with friends and neighbours!

Why not rally your crew, form a walking or riding group, and turn your Fridays into a celebration of community and sustainability?

Let’s roll into the weekend feeling energised and inspired!

See you out there!

Carpark Safety

We would like to address some important safety concerns regarding carpark use, and we kindly ask for your cooperation.

Kindergarten Carpark

We have been made aware that some families are using the kindergarten carpark who are not attending the kindergarten. This carpark is reserved exclusively for kindergarten families. If you have both kindergarten and school-aged children and need to park there, please ensure you use the ramp to access the school grounds.

The increased traffic in this area is making it difficult for kindergarten families to find parking and is also creating a safety risk due to the higher volume of foot traffic. Please also note that the gate between the kindergarten and school is now locked — children should not be lifted over the gate under any circumstances.

School Carpark

The school carpark has vehicles moving in and out throughout the day. For safety reasons, we ask that pedestrians do not use the stairs near the flag poles and then walk through the carpark as a shortcut. The designated ramp or steps are to be used when entering or exiting the school.

Thank you for your support in helping keep all members of our school and kindergarten community safe.
