Welcome to the second last edition of the Banyule Bulletin for this year, something that is hard to believe given it feels like we were no long ago writing the second one for the year!

Our staff have continued being active behind the scenes preparing for 2026. Schools can be very busy places during Term 4 as we simultaneously wind down one year and ramp up for the new one. Throw in a bit of Christmas and it certainly feels like it's all happening!

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas...

Speaking of Christmas, the children are well underway with preparations for the BPS Carols Picnic Afternoon on the 10th of December.

Families are welcome to join us on the oval from 4.30pm for a 5pm start. Be sure to bring along your picnic blanket, picnic and Christmas cheer. Children will receive lots of reminders in the lead up that they are to remain on the oval for the duration of the afternoon under the supervision of their parents, and that the rest of the school yard is out of bounds. This event will be weather dependent, so fingers crossed we are fortunate to have a beautiful summer's day.

Gone Campin'...

As we write, our Year 3 classes are having a blast tackling the challenges at Mt Evelyn Discovery Camp. Whether it's zooming down the flying fox, delicious bush cooking, the exhilarating giant swing, racing around in orienteering, tackling the low ropes, the team work involved in hut building or the persistence needed for archery, camp offers a plethora of opportunities for students to overcome challenges, develop leadership skills and independence, achieve personal bests and thrive. We thank the Year 3 Team and other supporting staff and parents for going above and beyond so that children have such a valuable experience.

Talented bunch...

Our Talent Shows for years 3/4 and 5/6 will be held next week and it has been lovely to watch the students rehearsing their acts, all guided by Performing Art extraordinaire, Miss Daniel. We can't wait to see the final performances next week!

Class act...

It's not just the kids who are busy. Our teachers are working hard behind the scenes collaboratively building the 2026 classes. Much time goes into looking to create the best composition to meet the needs of all of the students, with many factors considered in the construction of the classes. Students will spend some time with their new class and teacher on Monday December 15th as part of our whole school transition program.

Meet the 2026 Team!
