Principal Team Update

Hi BPS families,

Wow - our Prep students were absolutely amazing at their Flashback to the 90's Prep Concert! They rocked their 90s outfits and sang and danced their hearts out to some fun hits. We especially loved watching the students introduce each item, speaking so confidently and proudly into the microphone.

Seeing their confidence shine on stage was a wonderful reminder of just how much growth happens in Prep. They have completed an excellent first year of school, and we were so proud of the enthusiasm, dedication and joy they brought to their performance.

A huge thank you and congratulations to Ms Pholi and our Prep teaching team for putting together such a fantastic show. We hope our Prep families loved every moment!

The music and sunshine continued as our school came together to enjoy a fantastic concert from Mitch Tambo. Mitch is an internationally acclaimed, proud First Nations artist known for blending traditional language and instruments with contemporary music. Students and staff alike had a wonderful time experiencing Mitch’s performance and learning more about his story and culture.

What a fabulous day it was for our community at the Colour Run! A huge thank you to our amazing team of P&F Volunteers who led this event - Lis, Sarah, Emily, Leah and Simone - as well as all of the volunteers who helped on the day. We truly couldn’t do this without you. We are so grateful for the time, energy, care and passion you brought to the event.

Thank you also to our P&F volunteers who organised the special food sales, and to our community members for supporting these efforts. We extend our appreciation to our wonderful staff for jumping into the fun and helping make the day memorable. It was a fantastic community event for everyone - and most importantly, for our students!

We are thrilled to share that an incredible $50,019.89 was raised! These funds will go towards upgrading our much-loved oval basketball court and enhancing other outdoor learning spaces. Works on the basketball court have commenced this week. Prize orders have now closed. Prizes will be delivered to the school and distributed before the end of term. You can enjoy some photos from this event on the Parents & Friends page of this newsletter.

How fabulous does the Year 6 mural look?! Our Year 6 students worked with established Australian artist Deb McNaughton to design and create this special artwork for our school grounds. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’ll find it near the Visual Art room, close to our Dalgetty Road gate. On the Topic Spotlight page of this newsletter, our Visual Art teaching team shares more about the mural, the process that went into creating it and the meaning behind it.

Next Tuesday 9th December is the Statewide Transition Day. On this day, our students will take part in a ‘Meet the Teacher’ session in preparation for 2026. Students will begin the morning with their current class and teacher. After the roll is taken, they will learn who their 2026 teacher will be and which classmates will be in their new class. They will then move to their transition session.

During this session, students will spend time getting to know their 2026 teacher and classmates, and will participate in a range of fun activities. The session will conclude at 1:15pm, after which students will return to their current 2025 class and teacher. Students who are not returning to BPS in 2026, including our Year 6 students who are not at their new school, will take part in an activity during this time.

Your child will bring home a letter from their 2026 teacher, as well as their 2026 specialist teachers, as well as a letter from your child that lists some of their friends in their new class. Following last years model, in line with the Child Safe Standards, whole-cohort class lists will not be sent home. We trust this ‘Meet the Teacher’ session will help support a smooth and positive transition in readiness for 2026.

We look forward to celebrating the end of the school year with many of you at our Carols event next Wednesday 10th December.

Kind regards,

David, Grace, Keli and Ellen
