Performing Arts 2025 Wrap Up
What a year 2025 has been for Performing Arts here at Croydon Hills Primary School. Every year we aim to build and grow our Performing Arts program and its not till we look back at it as we make our annual photo collage on the PAC office door that we realise how much we have achieved. Here are just some of the great things we achieved this year:
- Sold out Year 2 Concert – A great collaboration between the Visual Arts and Performing Arts Teams (next year we will also include the Language Arts)
- Established two new Choral programs – Musical Excellence Choir (MEC) and Pop Choir
- Best Year 4 Production to date – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
- MEC competed at the Boroondara Eisteddfod
- Sold out Annual Variety Concert – Stagestruck ‘Fantasia’
- Several awards and Accolades for Wakakirri – including the ‘Spirit of Wakakirri’ Award.
- MEC performed at Australian National Choral Association’s ‘Melbourne Sings!’ event.
- MEC - Bronze Award – Victorian School Music Festival
- MEC - 2nd Place trophy – Monash Youth Music Festival
- Pop Choir invited to perform at Maroondah Council’s Mental Health Awareness festival
- MEC invited to Perform at Maroondah Carols
- Christmas Concert – Best one yet!
- Increased Musical Literacy astronomically – Above/Well above level is now the average.
As always our last big hurrah was our Combined Choir performing for the Yarrunga Retirees at Yarrunga Community Centre. The retirees were thrilled to have us and look forward to it every year. Here are some of the things they had to say:
‘‘You get better and better every year’ ‘This is the highlight of our year, you have made our Christmas’‘ We are in awe at how much the kids love you (Mr King) and how enthusiastic they always are’
All of these things would not be possible without the following people:
Brodie Sainsbury-King
Kelly Fell
Ros Lawrence
Many parent helpers but especially:
Melinda McCartney
Bronwyn Peach
Glen Barnett
Thank you to all those people who make Performing Arts great at Croydon Hills Primary School.
Lastly we have our Most Valuable Performer awards for Semester 2, Congratulations to:
Brodie (6EP)– Pop Choir
Evander (4DB) – Musical Excellence Choir
Sadie (6RT) – Rock Band
Luca (6RT) – Dance Club
Let’s make 2026 another year of excellence in Performing Arts – Auditions for MEC are still able to be booked for students in year 2-5 using the link below.
Have a lovely Christmas and restful holidays!

Final message from the PE/Sport space
It has been a massive year in PE and Sport! Our many whole school events including Cross Country and Athletics, Senior Interschool Sport and progressions to District, Division, Region and State, Friday Sport for year 1-4, Year 3 Bike Ed, Prep SMG program and more!
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped this year with any of our sporting events and interschool sport. Parents, carers and senior students, who volunteer their time is crucial for the running of events and being able to provide experiences for our students so we greatly appreciate your support!
Thank all the students at CHPS for their participation, commitment and passion towards their PE and Sport this year. It has been wonderful to see so many students with smiles on their faces from the joy physical activity brings. Whether a new skill was developed, a challenge was accepted, a goal was reached or a new interest was identified, you should be so happy and proud of your efforts!
Wishing all families, a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
We look forward to seeing everyone back in 2026!
Many thanks,
Laura Yorke & Jarrod Butcher 🙂
