Year Eleven Camp and Final Day
This week we farewelled our Year Eleven students, with Monday marking their last day on campus. Many are heading into summer jobs, either in town or helping with harvest. We celebrated their final assembly on Monday and look forward to welcoming them back next year for their final year of school.
During Year Eleven camp last week, we spoke as a group about the important role Year Twelve students play in setting the cultural tone of the school and being role models for younger students. The camp was a fantastic experience and it has us excited for a great year ahead!
In-Class Drama Performances
This week, we are inviting parents onto campus to enjoy drama performances by our Years Seven, Eight and Nine students who have chosen drama as an elective. It is wonderful to see a growing culture of drama and performance in our school.
Looking ahead, we are exploring options for next year’s production and are thrilled to announce that drama will be introduced as a subject in Primary School. This means we will have a pipeline of talented young performers joining our Secondary School for years to come!
Orientation Day
This Friday, we are hosting Orientation Day, a very exciting event! We encourage our current Year Six families to take advantage of the opportunity to meet the Head of House at 8.00am, followed by an information session.
We will also welcome students from local Albany primary schools and regional schools who will begin their journey with us next year. Boarders’ orientation will take place on Thursday afternoon and evening, followed by a half-day on Friday. Please contact us if you have any specific queries.
Interschool Athletics
Next week is our Interschool Athletics Carnival and we can not wait to see how our students perform against local rivals. Our goal is to be a school that develops top athletic talent while prioritising participation and enjoyment of sport. Striking that balance is something we value deeply.
A big thank you to our Sport staff for their hard work, passion and dedication in creating these opportunities for our students. We look forward to cheering them on next Tuesday!

ICAS Awards Presentation
During Monday’s assembly, we celebrated students who achieved outstanding results in the ICAS assessments, an international programme that challenges learners in subjects such as English, Mathematics and Science, focusing on higher-order thinking skills.
Congratulations to all recipients for your hard work and academic excellence!
Melbourne Media and Digital Technologies Tour 2026 Expressions of Interest
We are now finalising interest for our Melbourne Media and Digital Technologies tour in the October 2026 school holidays, led by Mr Kieran Bailey and Ms Katie Gunning.
This tour is designed for students interested in digital technologies, computer science, media studies, filmmaking and creative industries. Among a busy week of activities, students will visit world-leading universities, meet industry professionals and attend PAX Australia – the biggest gaming convention in the Southern Hemisphere. Students will also experience the energy, culture and creative heartbeat of Melbourne.

End of Year School Device Returns
For students enrolled in Year Ten and Year Twelve in 2026, we will be completing device returns and issuing upgraded Surface Laptops in the coming weeks. Year Eleven students will exchange devices on 24 November 2025 and Year Nines on 8 December 2025.
The selected device is well-suited to the age and learning needs of students and is consistent with the model rolled out to Year Nine and Year Eleven students in 2025. It offers improved battery life, enhanced processing power and a larger display.
If any issues arise with devices over the end-of-year break, the IT team will be available for support. Please email support@gsg.wa.edu.au or visit the IT staff in the Library.
