Year 7 -  First Day at Killester

Arriving at School

Our Yr 7 students recently began an exciting new chapter as they commenced their journey at Killester College.

Their first day was filled with anticipation, new friendships and the first steps in building a strong sense of belonging within our College community. From meeting their teachers to exploring their new learning spaces, students were warmly welcomed into an environment grounded in connection, faith and opportunity.

Starting secondary school is a significant milestone, and we are proud of the confidence and enthusiasm our Year 7 cohort has already shown. We look forward to supporting them as they grow, learn and contribute to our community in the years ahead.

Parent BBQ Lunch

As our Year 7 cohort finished their first day at Killester College, they were joined by their parents and siblings for a celebratory BBQ lunch to mark the beginning of their journey with us.

It was a wonderful opportunity for families to connect, meet staff and begin building relationships within our vibrant College community. The afternoon was filled with conversation, laughter and a genuine sense of belonging, as new friendships were formed and connections strengthened.

We are delighted to welcome our newest families and look forward to the partnerships that will grow in the years ahead.

Brigidine Cross for Peace

To honour the feast of Saint Brigid of Kildare, our students and staff came together as one Killester community to celebrate faith, justice and peace.

Across year levels and roles, we formed a human Brigidine cross - a powerful symbol of who we are and the call to live the Gospel in the spirit of Saint Brigid of Kildare and Nano Nagle.

In a quiet moment of unity and reflection, we paused to hold in prayer a world yearning for healing.

Together, we proclaimed:

In a world wounded by conflict, injustice and division, we commit ourselves to the work of peace. We stand with all who suffer because of war and violence, choosing dialogue over division, compassion over fear, and justice as the pathway to lasting peace. As the Killester community, we now pause for one minute to pray for peace in our world.

May we continue to carry the light of peace into our classrooms, our community and beyond.

High Achievers Assembly

Our High Achievers Assembly was a proud and celebratory occasion, recognising the determination and dedication of the Class of 2025. The outstanding results achieved by our students are a testament to their perseverance, commitment to learning and the strong partnerships between staff and families that support them throughout their journey.

We offer special congratulations to our 2025 College Dux, Sally T, and our 2025 VM Dux, Angela M. Their sustained effort, focus and pursuit of excellence reflect the very best of our College spirit. We are immensely proud of their achievements and the example they have set for younger students.

As our 2025 cohort begins the next chapter beyond the walls of Killester, we wish each student every success and fulfilment in the pathways they choose. Their presence, leadership and contributions have enriched our community, and they will always remain a valued part of the Killester story.

We also proudly acknowledge our Class of 2026 students, who officially received their Year 12 badges from Ms Rosati, which was a significant milestone marking their leadership journey and their final year at the College.

Opening Whole School Liturgy & BBQ Lunch

Our College community came together in Kennedy Hall for our 2026 Opening Liturgy - a special and reflective way to begin the year. It was a meaningful opportunity to centre ourselves in our 2026 theme: Justice: Serving with Courage, Leading with Kindness, Living with Courage, and to consider how we are each called to live this out in our daily lives.

We extend our sincere thanks to our Chaplain, Father Brian Collins, for leading the celebration with such care and guidance.

We are deeply grateful to our Assistant Principal Faith and Mission, Josie Dillitoso, and her team for organising such a thoughtful and uplifting celebration. Their dedication ensured a reverent and meaningful beginning to the year for all.

As is our tradition, we gathered afterwards for a shared BBQ lunch, which was a wonderful opportunity for staff and guests to connect, share conversation, and continue the spirit of the morning in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

It was a pleasure to welcome the Brigidine Sisters, representatives of Kildare Ministries, and our other special guests who joined us for this significant occasion. Their presence strengthened the sense of connection to our rich Brigidine heritage and shared mission as we begin the year together.

Swimming Carnival

Our annual Swimming Carnival, held at the Noble Park Aquatic Centre, was a wonderful celebration of House spirit, participation and friendly competition. Students across all year levels embraced the opportunity to be involved, whether competing in events, cheering from the sidelines or supporting their teammates throughout the day.

Congratulations to MacKillop House for being named overall winners of the 2026 Carnival. Their consistent effort, teamwork and enthusiasm across all events were commendable.

Final Results:

  • 1st – MacKillop
  • 2nd – Romero
  • 3rd – Chisholm
  • 4th – Brigid

We also extend our sincere thanks to Romero, Chisholm and Brigid Houses for their spirited participation and contribution to such a vibrant and positive atmosphere. The encouragement and camaraderie displayed across all Houses reflected the true spirit of our College community.

Finally, we thank all students and staff for their involvement and support, with particular appreciation to those who worked behind the scenes to organise and run the event. Your time, care and hard work ensured the day ran smoothly and successfully. Without your commitment and generosity, this wonderful community event would not have been possible.
