Hannah also received the ‘People’s Choice Award’ as one of the two major prizes from our Year 11/12 TASC Visual Art Exhibition.
The second prize awarded was the inaugural Principal's Purchase Prize. This new prize in 2026 is exclusively chosen by our College Principal, Brendan Gill. The recipient's artwork will be purchased and displayed by the school. This year the winning work was a painting by Year 11 student Stella.
Congratulations to all students who participated and to all staff who made this event such a success.
Fusion Fun
We are still reeling from the success of Fusion last week
What a wonderful showcase of the talented students we have here at MacKillop. With plenty of work on display from visual arts, media arts, making design and technologies, and textiles, there was plenty for members of the College Community to engage with.
Performances from students in music, drama and dance topped off an amazing evening that ignited the College with the sound of music.
A big thank you to all staff involved for their efforts in making this event such a success.
Design and Technology Exhibition
The recent Design and Technology exhibition held during Fusion, was a celebration of student creativity, skill, and innovation. From Year 7 through to senior students in Years 11 and 12, the showcase highlighted an impressive range of projects that demonstrated both craftsmanship and imagination.
Students in Design and Production, Wood wowed audiences with their striking clock display, beautifully crafted furniture, and even surfboards that combined functionality with artistic flair. These pieces reflected not only technical ability but also the confidence to experiment with design.
This year marked the exciting introduction of Design and Technology, Textiles as a subject at MacKillop College, with a Year 9 elective set to launch in 2026. Early projects already show how popular and engaging this new area is, giving students the chance to explore fabric, fashion, and design in fresh ways.
Senior students undertaking the Level 3 Object Design subject presented sophisticated works that demonstrated advanced design thinking and production skills. Their projects stood as a testament to the growth and progression of talent across the years. The exhibition was more than a display of finished products—it was a showcase of creativity, perseverance, and the joy of making.
With wood and textiles now side by side, the future of Design and Technology at the school looks brighter than ever.

And that's a wrap on Year 10!
Our Year 10 students celebrated their final day at MacKillop for 2025, with a Celebration of Excellence and their beach day festivities.
Student's enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate their academic and sporting achievements this year amongst their friends and family, before spending some time in the sun and sand.
Enjoy your summer holidays Year 10! We look forward to welcoming you back for Year 11 in 2026.
Howzat!
Recently, MacKillop took to the field in our annual staff v students cricket game. The staff remained victorious with some expert batting skills on display.
In a thrilling match with plenty of laughs, dramatic dives for the ball and even one batsman out for a duck, the staff were very pleased to take out the game and achieve back-to-back wins for the last three games. Can the staff be toppled from their winning streak next year?
A big thank you to all staff and students who participated in this prestigious match, and to the MacKillop Cricket Club for their continued support of the event.
Year 8 Robotics Sumo Battle!
Our Year 8 students ended the year with a LEGO Spike Prime sumo showdown! Teams built their own robots—no instructions—and battled for glory.
Bob took the crown with a dominant design.
Honourable mention to The Two Hugos for their spinning robot that kept rivals guessing!
Sunshine Coast Dance Eisteddod
Preparations for the Sunshine Coast Dance Eisteddfod are in full swing, with students rehearsing for their performance in May 2026.
Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising efforts during Fusion! Your generosity is helping make this incredible opportunity possible for our dancers. We are so proud of their dedication and cannot wait to see them shine on stage in Queensland!
