News about Social media age restrictions and your family

The Australian Government is protecting young Australians at a critical stage of their development, through world-first social media age restrictions.

eSafety has updated its guidance on which platforms are likely to be age-restricted. These include Facebook, Instagram, Kick, Reddit, Snapchat, Threads, TikTok, X, and YouTube.

Platforms they consider do not currently meet the criteria for ‘age-restricted social media platform’ and are therefore not age-restricted include Discord, GitHub, Google Classroom, LEGO Play, Messenger, Roblox, Steam, WhatsApp, and YouTube Kids.

Technology changes quickly, so this list isn’t fixed. They'll keep sharing updates on their website.

To help young people, families and educators prepare, eSafety has released a package of resources on a dedicated online hub and will run live webinars to provide information and answer questions.

From 10 December 2025, many social media platforms won’t be allowed to let Australians under 16 create or keep an account. The information on this page will help you understand why, and how you can help your under-16 through the change. To find out more information click the link below

At OSHClub, before and after school care is more than a service — it’s a springboard. A place where kids thrive, friendships grow, and curiosity is always encouraged

OSHClub is proud to run the ‘Adventure Program’ at their before and after school care services. The Adventure Program is an industry leading framework designed to nurture children’s potential through play.

Play-based learning fosters children’s growth and wellbeing and is a fundamental right of a child. Through play, children can learn to express themselves, learn how to interact with others and reach key developmental milestones, all whilst playing and having fun with friends!

Kids can kick start their day at the 'Rise then Shine' morning program which offers energising activities and a nutritious breakfast to set kids up for a positive start to their school day.

The fun continues after school at the 'Stay and Play' afternoon program where children can participate in fun activities, build close friendships and wind down after a busy day at school.

Whether they're gearing up for a serious soccer tournament with 'Super Sports' or solving puzzles with 'Brain Boosters', OSHClub's adventures enable kids to do what they love and discover new interests, all whilst making friends outside of the classroom!

Rest assured that your kids are having a ball with friends at OSHClub where glitter flies, and imaginations soar. A place where screens are off, and kids are switched on! Where you avoid school peak hour, and they get peak play hours.

OSHClub is the place where play meets potential.

Visit the OSHClub website to learn more about their before and after school care program.
