As we reach the close of the 2025 academic school it is my pleasure to reflect on our achievements and extend heartfelt thanks to our school community.
2025 has been a year of growth, resilience, and vibrant learning at our school. Our students have demonstrated commitment to their studies and a willingness to embrace new challenges. Whether it has been in the classroom, on the sporting field, or through involvement in the arts and community initiatives, their efforts have made our school a place of pride and achievement. The school values of care and compassion and respect have been demonstrated throughout the year.
Our year 12 students deserve special acknowledgment. As they prepare to embark on the next stage of their journey, we wish them every success. As a school we joined with family and friends to acknowledge their achievements on 28 November at the Adelaide Town Hall. Their leadership and positive influence have set a wonderful example for their younger peers.
Year 12 results will be released on 15 December. Staff will be at the school to field any questions or provide advice.
I would like to recognise our dedicated staff, whose professionalism and care help nurture an environment where young people thrive. Their unwavering commitment and passion for education have made a real difference in the lives of our students.
This year we are farewelling the following staff Melissa Applegate, Ross Braendler, Ash Brook, Sheena Campbell, Amanda Chandler, Mia Dyer-Bruns, Caroline Denvir, Jess Kuss, Cody Needham, Kerry Pinchbeck, Martin Thompson, Angela Wang, Alisha Willimas, Isaac Southern, Angela Winter Simon Wood and Ciara Flynn. We wish these staff all the best for 2026 and may see some of them return in the future.
Retiring from teaching is Shauna Thompson who has been at Aberfoyle Park High School for seven years having spent 22 years working in public education. Shauna has led the year 9 students as year level leader. Also taught dance including the performances required which requires a lot of rehearsal and patience. We wish her well as she moves to increased flexibility of how she uses her time and not having to be in a particular place at a particular time due to a timetable and bells.
Sue Goodman is on leave for term 1 2026 and we hope she has a well-earned break.
Thank you, too, to our families for your support, partnership and belief in the value of public education. Your involvement is vital to the growth, achievements, wellbeing and success of our students, and it is deeply appreciated.
Our school will no longer offer the two year The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Too few students are choosing this option hence this decision.
In this newsletter, there is further information about the impending social media restrictions for under 16 year olds, which comes into effect on 10 December.
As we look ahead to 2026, we remain dedicated to providing excellent learning opportunities, fostering a strong sense of community and supporting every student to achieve their personal best.
The 2026 school year starts on 27 January when we will join as a whole school to celebrate the achievements of our Class of 2025 and welcoming our incoming year 7 students in an assembly.
Wishing all students, families and staff a restful, safe and joyous summer break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back, refreshed and ready for another year.
