"Dare to be Different"

Dear Families,

We have had quite a few events already in Term 3, including our Year 4 Eucharist Information Night, Foundation celebration of 100 Days of School, the Parents' Association Disco and Empanada Night and the Year 1/2 Good Shepherd Faith Night. It has been lovely to chat with families at each of these events and I would like to offer my thanks to both the staff and Parents' Association members for their organisation of and attendance at these events. Thanks also to all those families who have supported these events by putting aside the time to come along and be part of our St Mark's community events.

Thanks to all those who have already purchased their production T-shirts from the office. Please remember to come and pay for your child/ren's T-shirt as soon as possible but no later than Monday 19th August.

Everybody should now have recieved an Operoo notice that indicates the night your child/ren will be performing in the school production on either Tuesday 17th September or Wednesday 18th September. We are getting very excited and very much looking forward to this very special event.

House Athletics:

On Friday from 9.00 a.m. - 11.00 a.m., we will be holding our House Athletics for the Year 3 - 6 students. All families are very welcome to come along to watch. If you are able to help please contact Grace Amerena on gamerena@smdingley.catholic.edu.au

Assmbly visitor this week:

At our assembly this week, on Friday at 2.30 p.m., we will be visited by Mark Dreyfus our local Federal Member of Parliament. He will be coming along to present some Junior Civic Participation Awards to some of the St Mark's students.

Student's excelling:

It is wonderful to see the wonderful work and initiatives that the remarkable students of St Mark's are undertaking. Ryan in 3/4M has made a fabulous poster about how to reduce pollution and Elena in 5/6P has started a knitting group to teach and share knitting skills while knitting for the homeless. Everyone is welcome to join the knitting group - please see the message below.

We like to knit.

Do you like to knit?

Would you like to learn to knit?

If you have answered yes to either of these questions, come and join the KFC Collective (Knit for Charity, not the chicken...)

WHERE: The library

WHEN: Wednesday snack time

BRING: Your own needles and yarn

FOR: Grade 3 upwards including teachers and staff

We'll help you learn or perhaps you're already an awesome knitter and can help us. You could knit for yourself, a friend or make something to donate to the homeless.

Come and learn/share a skill, have some fun and make new friends.

Crocheters welcome too! See you there!

Child Safety/eSafety:

Please remember that phones and smart watches are not permitted to be used at school at any time. Children who need to bring these items to school as they walk or catch public transport to and from school must leave them fully switched off and in their bags during the school day. They are not to be brought out until the children have left the school property.

It has been brought to our attention that some children are engaging in inappropriate activities on some social media platforms. We advise and encourage all parents to remain vigilant with their supervision of their children using these platforms and note that many of these social media platforms have age limits of 13/14, so primary school aged children should not be accessing them. Breaches of our IT agreement by students will be treated very seriously, especially if the breaches involve hurtful activities/content towards others.
