1/2A, 1/2E, 1/2J & 1/2M  Student Learning


French Learning

In French this week students were busy  writing sentences titled: 'A l`Ecole' ( at school) with Maelle (French, 1/2A & 1/2E) & Ari (French 1/2J& 1/2M) They worked independently using nouns, verbs and punctuation in their sentences. 

Students always enjoy reading French books with their class mates as well as independently, and we are fortunate to have a variety of brand new French books in their class room libraries to suit all reading levels!

Show & Tell

"I have pictures of 1/2A and1/2 E from a camera that I brought for a 'show and tell' before the holidays. We had a look and discussed how cameras used to work (before camera phones). I let the students use it and had the film developed during the holidays. Here are a few pictures taken by the students in 1/2A"

Inquiry

This Term in Inquiry the Year one and two students are exploring the properties and attributes of different objects which move. 

Students investigated different forces that can make an object move. To start the Inquiry process we went out into the playground to investigate how familiar objects move and what kinds of forces make them move. Students then described how the things moved; the direction, the speed and what was making them move. They were able to identify movements such as leaves blowing in the wind, a ball being thrown then falling, play equipment moving when they swung it, and the net on the soccer goals moving when a goal was kicked.

Kitchen Garden

Shaun our kitchen sheep and Radish our gardening rabbit were introduced to 1/2J during kitchen garden sessions. Students take turns taking home Shaun and Radish and adding pictures of their adventures in a shared classroom book.

Students in 1/2M made delicious carrot and zucchini focaccia during their kitchen garden session last week with Yves & Elodie. They had a turn in chopping dicing and mixing all the ingredients. While the focaccia was cooking in the oven, students worked on their activity sheets learning about the scent and taste of different herbs used in cooking.
