Rotary of Manningham City Public Speaking Competition
On the 31st July, Doncaster Primary School held the annual Public Speaking Competition for the Rotary Club of Manningham City. Twelve students from six local primary schools, including Doncaster Primary School, Donburn, Birralee, Beverley Hills, St Clements of Rome and St Gregory participated. In attendance was Manningham City mayor Carli Lange, rotary club members and members from Toastmasters International.
Representing Doncaster Primary School were two 6C students Stephanie Z and Elijah W, who had been chosen by peers and teachers in the DPS Public Speaking Competition. Stephanie and Elijah did an outstanding job, speaking with confidence and charisma, and their competitors were also excellent. The judges had a very difficult job to choose first, second and third place!
Stephanie's speech topic was 'Life through a dog's eyes'. Her feedback included good eye contact and good use of the stage.
Stephanie: 'I felt a bit nervous to speak in front of a large audience but I was proud of myself'.
Elijah's speech topic was 'A place that inspires me most'. What the judges had to say about his speech was dramatic and INCREDIBLE!
Elijah: 'I felt I had accomplished enough by competing but winning was a bonus'.
In first place, winning a $300 Bendigo Bank voucher was Elijah. He was also awarded the Wendy Samantha Productions Drama prize valued at $400. Elijah will represent the area at the District Finals in October. We wish him the best of luck! Proudly, Doncaster Primary School now holds the perpetual shield... until next year's competition.
We are so proud of Stephanie and Elijah for representing Doncaster Primary School. They both exemplified determination, pride and success!
