Term Three

Hayley - Honestly, as I think about it more I realise how fast our Grade 6 year has come and how many exciting activities that we got to do. It has already been three quarters of the year and there is one more left. In the past 4 weeks we have been doing many different things. One of the most exciting ones is having the Olympic Parade. The Paris Olympics 2024 started on July 26th. SInce then almost every night I have been watching the different sports and cheering Australia on. Some of the many sports I watched were Basketball, Waterpolo, Swimming and Gymnastics. At school, each class was assigned a country. Our class, 6S got Poland. On the day, so many people dress up in white and red just like the flag. Once we had entered the gym I saw the many different colours of other classes dressed up! I could see everyone giving the most effort they have to wear their colours. Everyone got to walk a lap with their class showing off their stunning outfits and their flag they made. The Poland flag has white at the top and red at the bottom. I hope to see what’s coming next in the Olympics!

Vivaan - Hello everyone, we are deep into Term 3 2024 and the Grade Sixes have been bombarded with entertaining activities and competitions. The most recent one was that the Preps have just completed their 100 days of school. It is a big achievement for the Preps and we are all really proud of them. We also had the Art Excursion in Week 4 where we learned about light and gases. My favourite part of that was when he did the multiple experiments with -200C liquid hydrogen and my eyes naturally widened in awe. In addition to that, the school captains and I have recently attended the Manningham Youth Club at MC Square and we all learned a lot. The guides there taught us about how kids are being affected with different things everyday.

In Week 5, the Grade Sixes were all set and ready for their last Athletics Day of Year 6!! There was a fun and bubbly feeling all around as we all went to the events. Everyone had painted the town red (had a great time) and I myself won (ribbons won here) and I am really proud of my achievements. Luckily the weather has cooperated with us and the day went really well. The Year Sixes have all had a smashing first half of the term, however; there is more to look forward to.

In Week 6 DPS is having book week! All of the students  will dress up in their favourite book characters' clothes and we will have a parade. We also have our high school week coming up in Week 8. Everyone will get their own timetable and manage their classes like Year 7. It will be a good learning experience for everyone in the year level.

All in all, us year sixes really have an action packed term ahead of us and we hope to make the most out of it! Have a great week everyone!!

Chloe - We have had so many fun activities that we can participate in this term. One really fun event that had me very excited was the Grade 6 Cooking. My class, 6M, was very lucky to be the first to go to Doncaster Secondary College to cook! We had to walk a very short distance to DSC and reached there within a few minutes. When we got there, we got to get our own working benches with a partner to cook and bake! The first thing we made were chocolate chip muffins! They all turned out so good and we split it evenly with our partners so each of us had half of what we baked. Next up we got to make a one-pot lasagna. We had the choice to add vegetables, herbs and meat! At the end of our cooking session, once everything was back to the way we found it, it was time to taste what we had made. Everyone’s meals were all delicious and everyone enjoyed the session. Most of us would have even brought home some of the leftover muffins or lasagna for their family to try! I really enjoyed that day at DSC, it will be a day I will never easily forget!  I cannot wait for more thrilling events that I can take part in this term!

Elijah - Term 3 has been one of the best terms in all of my years. In Week 3 I won the speech competition for Doncaster Primary School. It was the first time Doncaster Primary School had won in 11 years and it was one of the best shocks I ever had. Another thing that I enjoyed was watching the Olympics and so did most people. So in  Week 4 our school did an Olympic class event. Each class has got a country that they have to research about. My class has picked out Greece and on Wednesday the 7th of April, we went to an Olympic Parade in the gym with the other classes. On April 7th we got to wear our class country’s colours, so I had to wear blue and white.
