Assistant Principal's Report

Ms Julia Bay

It has been a wonderful start to Term 3 at Doncaster Primary School. Students have settled back into the school routine extremely well and have enjoyed the many events and learning opportunities presented. I have been very fortunate in my new role as Assistant Principal to take part in so many activities across the different year levels. Our Doncaster Primary School students continue to impress and make the most of all opportunities presented to them. Please see some of the highlights from the first half of Term 3 below.

Level 5 Sovereign Hill Excursion

On Thursday 8th August the Level 5 students attended Sovereign Hill to learn more about life during the Gold Rush. There were many wonderful activities that the students took part in, including a mine tour and gold pour. I was fortunate enough to attend and was so proud of our DPS students who showed our school values of Determination Pride and Success. You can read all about this wonderful excursion on the Level 5 Sovereign Hill Page.

Grandparent's Day

It was a pleasure welcoming our grandparents, families and special guests to the school on Friday 9th August to celebrate Grandparent's Day. The classrooms were filled with the sounds of stories from the past, and students and visitors alike enjoyed the creative activities including creating 'wacky' grandparents and interviewing their special guests. It was fantastic to see so many visitors at our whole school assembly.

Level 3 Australian Animals Incursion

The Level 3 students have been learning about different animal species and their classification. During Science Week, they welcomed a range of Australian Animals to our school, including a freshwater crocodile! They learned about their adaptations and unique survival skills. The students absolutely loved this incursion, even getting the chance to hold the animals.

I am looking forward to an equally successful and enjoyable second half of Term 3, especially as the weather begins to warm up and the days become longer! I look forward to continuing to work with the DPS community in my new role.
