Wellbeing Wrap Up

Congratulations to our students for the admirable way they have shown our school values in Term 3. We had several school works at the end of last term and this term which affected the amount of space on the playground. I was impressed by the way our students were flexible and understanding and how they showed inclusion. Many teachers mentioned how proud they were of our students' interpersonal skills.

Recently, I had the pleasure of working in 2M. We read a book about the different ways families need to work together to help around the house. Following this we played a mindfulness game with a focus on being humble and present. I was so impressed by the maturity, positive interactions and active listening from the students.

Feel free to have a read about what the students shared about the lesson:

Eric - I did well at focusing with my listening and being my best.

Ariela- we played the game to teach us to be more mindful about our emotions.

Joseph - we focused on being humble and not being a show off in the game.

We have continued to explore a different character strength each week. Feel free to discuss different ways these strengths are shown at home too.

Week 1Self Controlled Our character strength this week is self control. Self control is when we control our reactions, emotions and choices. Self control is important because often we need to consider the opinions of others, make appropriate decisions and respond to stressful situations in ways that can have a positive result. Take a moment to reflect on ways you show self control throughout this week.
Week 2Tolerance Our character strength this week is tolerance. We show tolerance when we accept differences in race, culture, personality, habits and beliefs. We are proud of the way we celebrate the unique qualities of each member at our school.
Week 3Compassionate Our character strength this week is compassion. We show compassion when we think about how others are feeling. We might step in to support somebody who needs help, enjoy celebrating the successes of others with them or show kindness to others. Think of some ways you have recently shown compassion. This week look out for ways we can show compassion.
Week 4Optimistic Our character strength this week is optimism. We show optimism when we look on the bright side. We know that problems and worries are normal for all of us sometimes. We are hopeful when we think of positives we can see in every situation. If someone is showing they are optimistic this week, we encourage you to praise them.
Week 5LoyalOur character strength this week is being loyal. A loyal person stays true through difficult times. You might like to reflect on times when you have been loyal and different ways people you know have shown loyalty. It is always nice to show appreciation to those who are loyal to us.
Week 6Brave Our character strength this week is bravery. We show bravery when we do not hide from a challenge. We have a go, have a good attitude and learn from our mistakes. This week we encourage you to show bravery. When you do, let your friends, teacher and family know.
Week 7FairOur character strength this week is fairness. Fairness is when everyone is treated equally and no one is left out. People are fair who follow the rules in sport, in the classroom and activities. If you see someone being fair this week, show you appreciation and tell them.
Week 8HonestOur character strength this week is honesty. We are honest when we are truthful in what we say or do. When we admit mistakes and share our real thoughts when asked something. Sometimes being honest can be a difficult thing to do but it is important because we show integrity. A good friend is honest.
Week 9Courageous Our character strength this week is courage. We show courage when we do not hide from a challenge. We have a go, have a good attitude and learn from our mistakes. This week we encourage you to show courage. When you do, let your friends, teacher and family know.
Week 10Tolerant Our character strength this week is tolerance. We show tolerance when we accept differences in race, culture, personality, habits and beliefs. We are proud of the way we celebrate the unique qualities of each member at our school.
