Our National Tree Planting Day was a wonderful success. Thank you for the generous donations from The Hon Reece Whitby MLA, The Hon Roger Cook MLA and The Hobson Family from the Thomas Road Nursery. Students and parent volunteers, thank you for the beautiful planting and community spirit. Mrs Cairns declared it to be the best day of her teaching career!
Our Primary Athletics Carnival brought some colour and excitement to a grey, winter's day. Students participated in running races, relays, ball tossing events, and tunnel balls, amongst other events. Whilst parents cheered the budding sports stars on, we enjoyed the food vans and helped pray the rain away. The afternoon ended with TKC all-star students, parents and staff racing in a relay, with Mr Da Silva and his team bringing home the win. Thank you to all the parents who came to support the event.
Our Year 3 students had an exciting visit to the Telethon Kids Discovery Centre inside Perth Children's Hospital. They were able to explore and use 3D printers to create futuristic food from dehydrated potato powder and learnt all about nutrition. Some very creative mashed potato printed creations were made. Futuristic MasterChef's in the making!
Our primary veggie garden is flourishing, and we are pleased to introduce the chickens, Henriette, Olga and Mrs Brown. They have been busily laying eggs and are well looked after by our sustainability champions, the Year 5 students, who diligently collect fruit and vegetable scraps from students and staff. The class also champions our Containers For Change project. Thank you, Mrs Cairns, for sharing your passion for sustainability and the wonderful produce!
Our Year 4 students went on a Navigators, Explorers and Traders tour. The tour explained how adventurers navigated the ocean en route to the Australian continent using traditional and scientific navigation techniques. The children had an exciting day exploring the treasures of the WA Shipwreck Museum.
Our Year 2 classes had a chance to experience life in the olden days at Kalamunda History Village. Students were guided around the historical village by a guide, who gave insight into early Hill life, including services, school procedures, transportation, industries, and their way of life from the 1860s to the 1920s. Students were able to participate in many hands-on activities such as writing with slate board in the old classroom, washing clothes by hand, sifting wheat and playing tech-free games!
The King's College Early Learning Centre shared in the Olympic excitement with their own Kindy Olympics! Our Pre-Primary brought the world's best Potatoes together in fierce competition for their Potato Olympics, including a diving event, ten-pin-bowling and gymnastic spinning, amongst other challenging feats. We closed off with some beautiful Art from our Year 6 students. 2024 Olympics - that's a wrap!
WACSSA Interschool Basketball Carnival was held at the Willeton Basketball Stadium on Friday. As always, the King's College Primary Students made us very proud with their exemplary behaviour and enthusiasm for the game.
Congratulations to our Year 6 Boys who were the champions in their division. We are adding to our trophy cabinet!
