Intermediate Girls Hockey:

On Wednesday 24th of July, the Intermediate girls hockey team made it through to the next round, Western Metropolitan region hockey finals. A lot of us have never ever played hockey before that day, but with help from Ms Comodromos and Ms Evans, we drew 0-0 the first match against Belmont and won the following match against Oberon 4-0. It was a great learning experience, and we are very proud of the girls.

Year 10

We took 3 students to the Institute for Intelligence Systems Research and Innovation and the faculty of Information Technology at Deakin University. The students got to observe and test a range of vehicle simulators, including a g-force simulator, and explored a range of medical robotics used for surgery and training. They experienced virtual reality activities, got to test drive a Ford simulator, chatted to PHD students about artificial intelligence and explored the 3D printing labs.

It was a great day out and a fantastic opportunity for the students to consider a future career in digital technology.

Year 11

YR 11 ART MAKING + EXHIBITING

Students in year 11 Art Making + Exhibiting were outside drawing trees from observation in our school ground using a charcoal reduction drawing technique. Charcoal reduction drawing involves initially applying a layer of charcoal to the paper, then selectively erasing areas to create highlights and details, effectively using the paper's white as a component of the composition. This technique allows for a range of tonal values and textures, with the erased areas standing out in contrast to the remaining charcoal. Students used an understanding of perspective, tone and composition to explore their own individual drawing style to create a landscape artwork.

YR 11 VET

Year 11 VET Sport & Rec students participated in conditioning & recovery sessions thanks to Belmont Physiotherapy Centre & ARK sports recovery. Students underwent strength  and conditioning, speed and agility work, and prehab exercises before taking the plunge in hot/cold baths and recovery boots

YR 11 VM:

This week our Year 11 VM students took part in a 4 day Design to Thrive challenge facilitated by Geelong Tech school and Parks Victoria at Lara’s Serendip Sanctuary. The students' goal was to design something that could lead to ecological or social change at the Serendip Sanctuary. Students also helped park rangers plant trees, pull weeds and deconstruct stick huts.

Year 12:

A lot of things happening over the next few weeks as we approach the busy time of year as we begin to ramp up for the end of the year and beyond.

  • Over the next few weeks students will be run through the SEAS application (Special Entry Access Scheme) and VTAC applications for those interested in tertiary education from Brenna and Holly.
  • The Victoria Police will be in to speak to the students about being safe and making wise choices around Schoolies week/weekend and celebrating the end of school.
  • Elevate education will run a session about exam preparations to follow up form the session during our yr. 12 Camp.

Its also a time for students to spend a small amount of time each night starting to prepare for final exams. Small things like 10 minutes reading over notes on top of homework will all add up in the end.
