Week 1 & 2 Updates

Visual Art

Welcome Back to Term 3!

The past two weeks have been an exciting time in our Visual Arts classes as we welcomed back the students for Term 3. They jumped straight into their creative projects, bringing energy and enthusiasm to their artwork.

Our Grade 1/2 students explored innovative printing techniques using unexpected tools: Lego bricks and a pasta maker repurposed as a printing press! They printed on recycled UHT cartons, turning everyday items into unique artworks. Alongside this hands-on experience, they also spent time planning their pieces by carefully sketching their ideas and experimenting with various materials.

Meanwhile, our Grade 6 students have been incredibly productive, completing a whirlwind of artworks. Some have not only finished their pieces but also photographed them and wrote artist statements. Their impressive work is now ready for our December art show, where they will proudly display their creative achievements.

We are thrilled to see the creativity and dedication of our students and look forward to sharing more of their artistic journeys throughout the term!

Performing Arts

Students in choir have been very busy preparing for the big Boite Schools Chorus performance in Week 4.

We will be joined by many other schools and perform on the big stage at the Town Hall in the city.

The name of this year's show is 'The Children', and songs are themed around sustainability and looking after the environment.

Looking forward to sharing their songs with you soon!

Physical Education

Hi everyone, my name is Sean. I'll be taking P.E. classes while Mr. Dane is away.

I have moved here from Ireland and have been teaching for 2 years.

My favourite things to do are running and playing soccer.

I'm looking forward to getting to know the students this Term.

STEM

Welcome back! Over the past two weeks, we've delved into the exciting world of Digital Technologies.

We've been exploring digital systems and how they facilitate communication. Students have investigated various peripheral devices and have begun collecting a range of data. The Grade 5 and 6 students have been learning about binary code and have translated their names to binary and turned it into a song!

Aasta has also very kindly given us some mushrooms which are growing in the STEM room. Don't forget to check them out during your next STEM session!

Spanish

¡Bienvenidos, to Term 3!

The past two weeks our Prep students have been exploring some words to describe the weather, such as "hace frío" and "hace calor". Every day we will sing our weather song and describe the weather in Spanish. Meanwhile, our Grade 1 to 4 students have been diving into Spanish with enthusiasm, focusing on the parts of their body through the beloved song "Cabeza, hombros, rodillas y pies" (head, shoulders, knees and toes) and other engaging games. And our Grade 5 and 6 students are delving into the topic of "La ciudad" (the city) as they discover different places through flashcards and oral games.

Looking forward to see the vibrant learning experiences and cultural exploration taking place in our Spanish classes across all grades this Term 3!
