From the Principal

 17 July, 2024

Welcome back to Term 3! We hope you had a restful and enjoyable break. As we begin this term, we are excited to continue our journey of learning and growth. This term, we’ll focus on enhancing our students' numeracy and literacy skills while promoting their wellbeing through our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) program. There are a number of exciting experiences planned this term for example camps, Hooptime, disco, athletics and special days which we are very excited about.

PARENTS' ASSOCIATION

The Parents' Association Executive Committee met on Tuesday evening to discuss upcoming events and the departure of four members at the end of the year.

The Parents' Association plays a vital role in organising community events, fundraising, and supporting the school. We have been fortunate to have strong, involved committees in the past.

We are seeking new members for the executive committee in 2025.

If interested, please contact Monica Jordan (PA President) at monicajordanaus@gmail.com or me at bronwyn.garrity@education.vic.gov.au / 9876 1249. We are happy to discuss the roles and answer any questions.

Visit the Parents' Association page.

CLOTHING RECYCLING

Mrs Di Gennaro, our PA Vice President, has initiated a great partnership with Thread Collect to give clothes, including uniforms not fit for the Pre-Loved Uniform Store, a second life. This initiative aims to prevent clothing from ending up in landfills, promoting a more ethical and sustainable way to recycle.

Details on how to use the recycle bin will be communicated in the coming weeks. Please hold off on donating items for now.

Thank you to Mrs Di Gennaro for organising this initiative and helping educate our children and ourselves on promoting sustainability, reducing waste, and contributing to the concept of a circular economy.

SNACK SHACK

We welcome back Mrs Schaper this term. I would like to thank the wonderful parent volunteers who kept the Snack Shack running at the end of last term: Mrs Edgcumbe, Mrs Palframan, Ms Berardini, Mrs Di Gregorio, Mrs Batchelor, Mrs Heard, and Mrs Collie. Thank you, we appreciate your assistance!

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY REMINDERS

We would appreciate parents supporting the school by reminding their children about our digital technology expectations. According to our Digital Technology Policy, mobile phones, iPads, and smartwatches should be switched to aeroplane mode upon entering the school grounds. Students must hand their phones to the class teacher at the start of the day; phones will be returned at the end of the day. iPads and smartwatches must remain in aeroplane mode throughout the day.

Students should not contact or be contacted by parents or others via their devices during school hours. All communication between students and parents must go through the school office.

PHOTOGRAPHING, FILMING AND RECORDING STUDENTS

For Foundation parents/caregivers and new families, it is important to read the policy below and notify the school office if you do not want your child included in the school's newsletter, website, or any social media communications.
